Ruzic No-Hits Almere

ALMERE / BUSSUM / HOOFDDORP / ROTTERDAM (Neth.) - Dushan Ruzic threw a 7-inning No-Hitter on Friday, as league-leader DOOR Neptunus shutout Almere Magpies 11-0 to remain unbeaten. The righthander retired the first 16 batters he faced, then lost his Perfect Game when he walked Sergio Paulina with one out in the sixth. Later in the at bat, this with two outs, Ruzic also walked Wesley Bernardus, who became Almere's second and last player to reach base.
L&D Amsterdam Pirates shutout Mr. Cocker HCAW 8-0 on 13 basehits, including three by rookie Roeland Henrique, Jr. and Sidney de Jong.
Corendon Kinheim won 3-1 vs. Konica Minolta Pioniers, which initially took an 1-0 lead in the second inning.
ADO registered a 6-0 shutout-win vs. Sparta-Feyenoord, which produced only one basehit off Bobby Carrington, who also turned in another good outing.

ALMERE (Neth.) - Dushan Ruzic threw a 7-inning No-Hitter on Friday, as league-leader DOOR Neptunus shutout Almere Magpies 11-0 to remain unbeaten. The righthander retired the first 16 batters he faced, then lost his Perfect Game when he walked Sergio Paulina with one out in the sixth. Later in the at bat, this with two outs, Ruzic also walked Wesley Bernardus, who became Almere's second and last player to reach base. Neptunus collected 11 basehits off five different pitchers, including three by Benjamin Dille (who also homered) and Dwayne Kemp.

Neptunus took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Eugène Kingsale led off with a single and scored when next batter Benjamin Dille doubled. The latter then scored on an one-out single by Dwayne Kemp, who added an RBI-double in the third and a 2-run double in the fourth. In this at bat, Kingsale led off with a walk, which led to a pitching change, then Dille and Raily Legito singled to bring in a run. With one out, Kemp connected for his second double to make it 6-0.

In the fifth inning, Dille homered, then four more runs were scored in the seventh, including two on a single by Kingsale and one on a double by Danny Rombley.

BUSSUM (Neth.) - L&D Amsterdam Pirates shutout Mr. Cocker HCAW 8-0 on 13 basehits, including three by rookie Roeland Henrique, Jr. and Sidney de Jong. Bas de Jong contributed with a 3-run homerun. HCAW hit only three basehits. One of them off starter Rob Cordemans, who left after the third inning, then only two more off reliever Frank van Heijst, who had another fine performance, allowing only four players to reach base in the remaining six innings and retiring 12 batters in a row from the fourth through eighth inning.

Amsterdam opened the score with two runs in the first at bat when the first four batters all singled. Roeland Henrique, Jr., Nick Urbanus and Kenny Berkenbosch all singled off starter Kevin Roovers to start the game, then Sidney de Jong singled to bring in two runs. Two runs were added in the third when De Jong singled again, then scored when Bas de Jong followed with a triple. The latter then scored on a sac-fly by Vince Rooi.

Three runs were scored in the fifth. With one out, Berkenbosch and De Jong (who was 3-for-5) singled again, then Bas de Jong followed with his 3-run homerun to make it 7-0. The eighth run was scored in the ninth, thanks to a single by Michael Kramer.

Michael Pluijmers doubled with one out in the first inning for HCAW off Rob Cordemans, but stranded at third base. After Cordemans left, Bart Gabriëls doubled with two outs off new pitcher Frank van Heijst in the fourth inning, but he also stranded on third base. From this point, Van Heijst retired 12 batters in a row, before giving up a 2-out single to Joep van Els in the eighth inning.

HOOFDDORP (Neth.) - Corendon Kinheim won 3-1 vs. Konica Minolta Pioniers, which initially took an 1-0 lead in the second inning. Kinheim came alongside in the fourth, then took a 3-1 lead in the fifth on a single by Bryan Engelhardt and sac-fly by Tjerk Smeets. David Bergman raised his record to 3-0 and threw eight strong innings, giving up five hits and striking out seven.

In the second inning, Mark Duursma and Jakub Malik led off for Pioniers with back-to-back doubles to give their team an 1-0 lead, but hereafter Bergman retired 14 batters in a row, before giving up a 2-out single to Michael Duursma. Kinheim tied the score in the fourth off Jurjen van Zijl. Bryan Engelhardt led off with a single, then Tjerk Smeets walked and Rafael Jozefa singled to load the bases. A sacrifice fly by Rodney Michel tied the score, but then Smeets was caught in a rundown on a grounder by Björn Henrichs and a flyout ended the at bat.

In the fifth at bat, Kinheim scored twice to take a 3-1 lead. René Cremer and Dirk van 't Klooster started with singles and went on to score on an one-out single by Bryan Engelhardt and a sac-fly by Tjerk Smeets.

Sparta-Feyenoord vs. ADO, 0-6
ROTTERDAM (Neth.) - ADO registered a 6-0 shutout-win vs. Sparta-Feyenoord, which produced only one basehit off Bobby Carrington, who also turned in another good outing. The righthander went six innings, struckout six and only gave up a single to Nick Eppinga in the third inning. Leading 1-0, ADO rallied for five runs in the sixth inning when the Sparta-Feyenoord-defense committed three errors.

Bobby Carrington retired the first seven batters in a row, before giving up the single to Eppinga. In the next three innings, he allowed only two more batters to reach base, both on a walk. Hereafter, Martijn Riphagen took over and retired six in a row in the seventh and eighth inning. In the ninth, Matt Ryan retired the side to complete the shutout.

Initially, Dominican José Ventura started well for Sparta-Feyenoord, striking out six batters and giving up only one hit in the first three innings. In the fourth, he gave up a lead-off double to Koen Meershoek, which led to ADO's first run, as he went on to score on an one-out single by Boudewijn van Elswijk. After ADO stranded two runners in the fifth, the team rallied for five runs in the sixth. Michel Korzeniewski and Van Elswijk led off with back-to-back doubles to bring in a run and a new pitcher. Raynard Doran took over, but he loaded the bases when pinch-hitter Berti Richardson walked and Gregory Hassell singled. Frans Richardson then followed with a 2-run single. Two errors increased the lead to 6-0.
