New Venezuelan player for HCAW
Nederlands
BUSSUM (Netherlands) - Antonio José Granadillo is the new (and third) Venezuelan player for Mr. Cocker HCAW this season. Granadillo joins Dirimo Enrique Chavez and Roger Luque, who will both return to Bussum after making their debut in the Dutch big league last season. Like Chavez and Luque, Granadillo is a member of the National Team of Venezuela. The three will arrive in Bussum early April.

The 26-year old Granadillo can play on all infield-positions (mostly at second and third base) and replaces Wuillians Martin Antonio Vasquez Colmenarez. The outfielder will play for T&A San Marino this season in the Italian Baseball League. Last year, Vasquez was HCAW's leading hitter with a .376 batting average and he also led the team with 28 RBI's and nine doubles, while being second best with 23 runs scored and 44 basehits.

Granadillo played professionally in the past after signing a contract in 2001 with the St. Louis Cardinals. Since 2004, he played in the organisation of the Boston Red Sox. After his professional career ended after the 2008 season, Granadillo played in the Spanish big league in 2010 for San Inazio, where he was the batting champion in last years competition.

While playing in the organisation of the Red Sox, Granadillo reached the Triple-A level in 2008 when he played in one game for the Pawtucket Red Sox. In 2007 and 2008, he played for the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A team of the Red Sox.
