Starting Pitchers coming series; Milestones approaching for Cordemans, Van 't Klooster

HOOFDDORP / AMSTERDAM / HAARLEM / ROTTERDAM / BUSSUM / THE HAGUE / UTRECHT (Neth.) - On Saturday, the next 3-game series in the Dutch big league starts, followed by games on Sunday and Monday. Most starting pitchers have been announced for these games.

After coming weekend, the season will be interrupted. In the next weekend, the All Star Game will be played in Utrecht, then the week after the World Port Tournament will get underway in Rotterdam.

Listed below, are the starters for the upcoming series, but of course, the assigments can always change on game-days.



Vaessen Pioniers vs. Mr. Cocker HCAW
Vaessen Pioniers is using the same Game 1 and 2 starters as last weekend, who both wil get their ninth start of the season, but in a reversed order. Returning as Game 3 starter is RHP Lars Huijer, who might make his last start for Pioniers this season. On Friday, he will sign a contract, then probably will leave somewhere later this month to start his professional career. Last weekend, Pioniers swept Corendon Kinheim in three games.

Mr. Cocker HCAW only named the starters for the first two games. Last weekend, the Bussum-squad was swept in three games by UVV.

L&D Amsterdam Pirates vs. ADO
L&D Amsterdam Pirates, which last weekend qualified for the European Cup Final Four, will use the same rotation as it has done so far this season with the Game 1 and 2 starters getting their ninth start of the season. Kenny Berkenbosch is available again to play after already having played during last weeks European Cup-tournament. Amsterdam has do to without short stop Vince Rooi this series, as he lost his appeal to a 3-game suspension.

Game 1 starter Rob Cordemans is closing in on a career milestone, as he is only 14 strikeouts away from the 1500th in his career.

ADO added RHP Carlos Tabares Castro to its rotation. He will be Game 2 starter and make his second start of the season. Last weekend, ADO was swept by Sparta-Feyenoord.

Corendon Kinheim vs. DOOR Neptunus
Corendon Kinheim is using the same rotation again as before, meaning the three all will get their ninth start of the season. Last weekend, Kinheim was swept in three games by Vaessen Pioniers. First baseman Bryan Engelhardt has recovered from a calf-injury and is ready to play again, but Onno Jansen remains a question mark.

Rightfielder Dirk van 't Klooster is approaching a career milestone, as his 13th basehit from now on will be the 1000th in his career.

DOOR Neptunus, which last week was eliminated for the European Cup Final Four, is using the same starters for Games 1 and 2 and brings back Tim Roodenburg for Game 3 and his fourth start of the season. Neptunus will have do to without speedy centerfielder Shaldimar Daantji in the upcoming series. Last Saturday, in the last game of the European Cup-tournament vs. Parma, Daantji collided with short stop Dwayne Kemp and was hit in the chest. Kemp, who hurt his ankle in the collission, will be able to play again.

Sparta-Feyenoord vs. UVV
Sparta-Feyenoord is using the same rotation as last weekend when it swept ADO.

UVV, which last weekend swept Mr. Cocker HCAW, announced its starters on Friday. UVV has do to without first baseman Glenn Romney this series, as he lost his appeal to a 4-game suspension.
