Starting Pitchers coming series; Three new players for Neptunus
Nederlands
THE HAGUE / HOOFDDORP / UTRECHT / ROTTERDAM / AMSTERDAM / HAARLEM / BUSSUM (Neth.) - The next 3-game series in the Dutch big league starts on Thursday-evening with next games being scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Most starting pitchers have been announced for these games.

Also, DOOR Neptunus has added three players to its roster.

Listed below, are the starters for the upcoming series, but of course, the assigments can always change on game-days.

Standings & Schedule

ADO vs. DOOR Neptunus
ADO (2-16) will go with the same three starters as last week, but again in a different order. Last weekend, the team ended an 8-game losing streak by winning one of their three games played vs. Mr. Cocker HCAW.

DOOR Neptunus (16-5) named the same starters for Game 1 and 2, but again named a different Game 3 starter, as this time Australian lefthander Craig Anderson returns to the rotation. This also has to do with the rotation for the upcoming European Cup-tournament (June 1-5) in which Neptunus will participate next week in Parma (Italy). Because of this, the games in this series are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Last weekend, Neptunus won two of their three games played vs. Vaessen Pioniers.

As of now, both Game 1 and 3 will be started be lefthanders for both teams.

RHP Leon Boyd, who pitched for Neptunus (and the National Team) in 2007, 2008 and last season, will return to the team to participate in the European Cup Tournament and probably will make his comeback in the Dutch big league thereafter, as he also will be playing for the Dutch National Team during the World Port Tournament in Rotterdam (Netherlands), which opens on June 23.

Also coming back to Neptunus is infielder Mike Bazuin, who returned from the States last Sunday, after having studied and played there at Cochise College in Arizona. There, Bazuin played in 38 games in the NJCAA and batted .250. The last two seasons, Bazuin played for Sparta-Feyenoord, but after completion of last season, he returned to the club where he had made his big league-debut in 2007. His first big league-basehit was a homerun off Patrick Beljaards (Kinheim).

The third newcomer is Australian Outfielder Tom Brice. The lefthanded hitter was drafted in 2002 by the Chicago White Sox. From 2002-2005, Brice played professionally in the White Sox-organization appearing in 278 games in Rookie League or Single-A Teams. In 2006, he played professionally for the St. Paul Saints in an Independent League. In 2004, he won the Silver Medal with the Australian National Team on the Olympic Games in Athens (Greece). In 2006 and 2009, he participated with Australia in the World Baseball Classic. Brice also played baseball in Japan and Taiwan and will make his Dutch debut on Thursday-evening.

Game 3
LHP Diegomar Markwell (5-1)

Vaessen Pioniers vs. L&D Amsterdam Pirates
Vaessen Pioniers (11-7) and L&D Amsterdam Pirates (16-4) will go with the same rotation as in previous weeks. But Robert Klaver, Head Coach of Pioniers, added that he might switch his Game 2 and Game 3 starters, while Amsterdam's Head Coach Charles Urbanus has yet to confirm his rotation, but it is expected that this will not change.

Last weekend, Pioniers won one of three games vs. DOOR Neptunus, while Amsterdam won one of three games vs. UVV.

On Thursday-evening, the cases of Amsterdam's Head Coach Charles Urbanus and Short Stop Vince Rooi (who were both ejected last Sunday) probably will be reviewed. If so, a decision regarding suspensions will be announced on Friday, but of course both have the opportunity to appeal that decision.

Next week, Amsterdam will participate in the European Cup-tournament (June 1-5) at its home field in Amsterdam. Therefore, the games in this series will be played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

UVV vs. Corendon Kinheim
UVV (7-10) and Corendon Kinheim (13-5) will use the same rotation as last week. For UVV, this means that RHP Orlando Yntema again will be the Game 2 starter, while he was the Game 1 starter in the earlier series this season. For Kinheim, this means it will use the same rotation as it had done the entire season.

Last weekend, UVV won two of three games vs. L&D Amsterdam Pirates, while Kinheim swept Sparta-Feyenoord in three games.

Kinheim-catcher Jason Halman appears to be recovered from an ankle-injury, meaning he probably will return behind the plate in the upcoming series. In the last few games, Halman was used as the Designated Hitter. A question mark is 1B Bryan Engelhardt, who left last Sunday's game with a calf-injury. He had just recovered from a hamstring-injury.

On Thursday-evening, the cases of UVV's Head Coach Royce Holder and First Baseman Glenn Romney (who were both ejected last Sunday) probably will be reviewed. If so, a decision regarding suspensions will be announced on Friday, but of course both have the opportunity to appeal that decision. Holder was also ejected three days earlier in the first game of their series.

Sparta-Feyenoord vs. Mr. Cocker HCAW
Sparta-Feyenoord (4-14) will use the same rotation as last weekend, while Mr. Cocker HCAW (5-13) again only named its Game 1 starter.

Last weekend, Sparta-Feyenoord was swept in three games by Corendon Kinheim, while HCAW won two of three games vs. ADO.

Initially, Sparta-Feyenoord was to be joined by Dominican LHP José Ventura last Sunday-morning, but he didn't arrive due to visa-problems. Ventura is now scheduled to arrive in Rotterdam on Friday.
