Starting Pitchers coming 3-game series
Nederlands
UTRECHT / ROTTERDAM / BUSSUM / AMSTERDAM / THE HAGUE / HOOFDDORP / HAARLEM (Neth.) - Starting on Thursday-evening, the next 3-game series is scheduled, meaning the starting pitchers for the twelve games to be played have been assigned for most of these games. Games 2 and 3 are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Four of the eight Head Coaches kept their starting rotation intact. Two made changes to their rotation, while the remaining two had to make some further decisions regarding their rotations and announced their starters on Wednesday.

Listed below, are the starters for the upcoming series, but of course, the assigments can always change on game-days.

Standings & Schedule

UVV vs. ADO
Royce Holder, Head Coach of UVV (4-2), is using the same rotation for the third week in a row for his team, which has a 4-game winning streak. This means that Game 3-starter Martijn Riphagen on Sunday will start against the team he played for last season.

ADO (0-6) will use an adjusted rotation. For the opener on Thursday-evening, Head Coach Aldric Dunlop named RHP Quincy Lambertina, who will make his first start of the season. Dunlop then moved his Game 1 and 2-starters to the next two games, meaning he will use two lefthanded starters in the weekend.

On Friday-evening, Coach Dunlop confirmed that he had changed his rotation for the weekend after using scheduled Saturday-starter Jurandy Girigori in relief on Thursday-evening. He moved up Nick Martin from Sunday to Saturday and named a new Game 3 starter.

Sparta-Feyenoord vs. Vaessen Pioniers
Head Coach Luty Bernadina and Pitching Coach Leo Voogd of Sparta-Feyenoord (0-6) have to make some more decisions regarding their rotation for the upcoming series. Lefthander Gregory Gustina will not be available on Thursday due to work and therefore might start on Saturday, which led to the possibility that American Bobby Carrington might start the opener. However, on Wednesday-evening, it was confirmed that RHP Ruderly Manuel will make his first start of the season on Thursday, while the starters for the weekend have not been decided. Righthander Rudy Seebus sustained an arm-injury during his first start of the season on Monday vs. UVV (he had to leave the game) and probably cannot pitch the coming days. RHP Maikel Berghmans, who started Game 3 in the opening series, also becomes an option to start one of the games. RHP Marc Hennep and RHP Ludwin Obispo, two of the pitchers during the exhition season, are no options. Hennep was assigned to the Rookie League-team of Sparta-Feyenoord, while Obispo has left the team.

Does the coaching of Sparta-Feyenoord have to make some decisions, Robert Klaver, Head Coach of Vaessen Pioniers (4-2), sticks with the same rotation for the third week in a row. Pionier-infielder Mervin Gario is still recovering from an injury, but probably will not yet play in the coming series.

On Friday-evening, Sparta-Feyenoord confirmed its starters for the weekend.

Righthanders Kevin Miner and Dennis Burgersdijk are returning to the rotation, but in an other order, while RHP Joran Klarenbeek will make his first start. What also is decided is that Venezuelan lefthander Roger Luque will not play for HCAW this season. Luque, who was a member of the squad last season, was scheduled to arrive in Bussum two weeks ago. But he never came and currently pitches in the Panamanian competition.

Jan Collins, the Head Coach of opponent DOOR Neptunus (5-4), sticks with the same starters for Game 1 and Game 2, but again named another starter for the third game. This time that will be lefthanded Australian Craig Anderson, who will make his first start of the season. Diegomar Markwell, who left the game on Saturday out of precaution with a minor shoulder injury, is available to start the opener. 3B Rien Vernooij, who left Saturday with an ankle-injury, might not yet play. Collins confirmed that he will add some players from its Rookie Team (Tridents) for the coming series.

In the opener, righthanders Rob Cordemans (Amsterdam) and David Bergman (Kinheim) will face each other for the first time this season.

Both teams have no injuries, except for Kenny Berkenbosch (Amsterdam), who is recovering from a knee-injury. On Sunday and Monday, Bryan Engelhardt (Kinheim) was used only as DH, instead of playing at first base, as he slightly injured his hamstring on Saturday.
