ROTTERDAM (Neth.) - L&D Amsterdam closed the 10th Hudson John Tournament on Sunday with a 7-2 loss in a 4-inning game vs. host Sparta/Feyenoord in a game which rained out on Saturday. Because of the win, Sparta/Feyenoord ended in second place, while Amsterdam took third. Earlier in the day, Amsterdam won 5-1 vs. MediaMonks RCH, which remained winless and finished in fourth place. The day started with DOOR Neptunus winning 2-1 vs. Sparta/Feyenoord to become the tournament-winner for the fifth consecutive year. For Neptunus, it was their sixth tournament-title in six participations. On Saturday, in the game against Amsterdam, Neptunus' third baseman Raily Legito scored the tournament's 500th run since the first game was played in 1999.

Amsterdam initially took an 1-0 lead in the first inning.
With two outs, Sparta/Feyenoord-starter Rudy Seebus gave up a single to Sidney de Jong, who then advanced on a passed ball and scored on a double by Ryan Murphy, who stranded on second base.
Trailing 1-0, Sparta/Feyenoord struck in the second inning and took a commanding 7-1 lead.
In the inning, Amsterdam-starter Pim Walsma faced 12 batters, gave up seven hits, walked one batter and gave up all seven runs, four of which were earned.
The righthander started by walking lead-off batter Rodney Michel, gave up a single to Shurendell Borgschot, but then struckout former teammate Roderick Simon, who played for the Amsterdam-squad last season.
But Patrick Wabbijn followed with a single to tie the score. An error on a force play-grounder by Shaldimar Daantji gave Sparta/Feyenoord a 2-1 lead and a single by Ramphis Trinidad loaded the bases.
Next, rookie Imco Rudolph also singled, bringing in two more runs and Harvey Monte followed with another single to lift the lead to 5-1.
Monte was then forced out on a grounder by Percy Isenia, but Rudolph was able to score the sixth run.
Walsma was left to throw and then gave up two more basehits.
First, Rodney Michel singled, enabling Isenia to score, then Shurendell Borgschot hit his second single in the inning, but Walsma then ended the at bat by striking out Roderick Simon for the second time. Besides Simon, Shaldimar Daantji, Ramphis Trinidad and Nick Eppinga (who entered the game in the fourth as a pinch-hitter) also played for Pirates in the past.

In the fourth inning, Ryan Murphy took over for Walsma, walked two batters with two outs, but finished with a strikeout.
In the second inning, Zaïr Koeiman reached on an error for Amsterdam with one out, but the Sparta/Feyenoord-defense then turned a double play.
After retiring the side in the third, Rudy Seebus gave up an one-out double to Ryan Murphy (his second in the game) in the fourth and was being relieved by Tim Roodenburg, who was greeted with an RBI-single by Fausto Álvarez Rizo, but then the Rotterdam-team turned its second double play of the game on a grounder by Bas de Jong.
