ZOETERMEER (Neth.) - By winning both games on Saturday vs. Birds and because of the first loss of the season for Sparks Haarlem, A4 Terrasvogels is now the lone leader in the league. With its 6-1 and 5-0 Terrasvogels now is the only unbeaten team and extended its winning streak to eight games. Terrasvogels-pitcher Judith van Kampen and Kirsten Scheele both won their fourth game.

In the opener, RHP Judith van Kampen struckout ten batters and threw a 2-hitter. In the sixth inning, she gave up her first run of season after having thrown 27 1/3 scoreless innings. However, the run was unearned, meaning that streak was extended to 29 innings.
Terrasvogels scored its first run in the first inning when lead-off hitter Petra van Heijst walked and scored on a 2-out single by Annemiek van Riessen.
The lead was doubled in the next at bat. With one out, Yvette Krooder reached on an error, moved on a sac-bunt and a single, then scored on a 2-out single by Petra van Heijst.

In the home sixth, Birds scored its lone run. With one out, Judith van Kampen struckout Andrea Winkler, but the ball was not in control of catcher Olga Kleinlooh, who then made a throwing error towards first base, enabling Winkler to score. Before Andrea Winkler had reached base, Judith van Kampen retired 13 batters in a row.
With excemption of Dana Horeman, all players in the starting Terrasvogels line-up at least had one basehit.

In Game Two, RHP Kirsten Scheele threw a 4-hit shutout and struckout six batters. Only three runners of Birds reached second base.

HAARLEM (Neth.) - Van der Peijl DSC '74 on Saturday first lost 4-3 to Euro Stars, but then broke its 7-game losing streak by winning 10-0 in Game Two.

In the opener, DSC failed to hold onto a 3-0 lead and lost its seventh game in a row.
In the second inning, Lindy Prins reached on an infield-hit with one out and advanced on an error, then scored when Jasjo Bos followed with a double. In the third inning, the lead was raised to 3-0. Lead-off hitter Inge Consent was hit by a pitch, then was safe on a throwing error after a force play-grounder by Gallieth Haaker. A strikeout followed, but then Consent and Haaker put on a double-steal, after which the first was able to score after an error. Next, Haaker advanced on a grounder and scored when Lindy Prins again reached on an infield-hit. But here, the run production was stopped, as Euro Stars-pitcher Lara Hollander would give up only two more basehits in the next four innings. But despite that, DSC came close to the tying run in the seventh.
In the fourth, Euro Stars came back with two runs. With two outs, Karin Tuk reached on an error that followed a strikeout, then scored when Letticia Horstman doubled. Next, Britt Breure singled to bring in Horstman. Jennifer Boutisma and Marsha-Ann Krul also followed with singles, but Breure was thrown out at the plate when she tried to score on the single by Krul.
In the sixth inning, Euro Stars tied the score. Letticia Horstman led off with a single after which DSC-starter Laura v.d. Berg was relieved by Stephanie Haddad, who later gave up an RBI-single to >b>Jennifer Boutisma.
In the seventh inning, Euro Stars took a 4-3 lead on three consecutive singles. Shulaike Balentina then singed, moved on a single by Manon Schol and scored on a single by Karin Tuk.
DSC then came close to the tying run in the home seventh. Ellen Venker led off with a walk, moved on a sac-bunt by Inge Consent and reached third base on a single by Gallieth Haaker. However, Lisanne v.d. Berg fouled out and Cindy Baretta popped out to end the game.

Double victory for Twins
Nederlands | Line Scores | Box Score # 1 | Box Score # 2 | Twins' previous games | Centrals' previous games
Standings | Schedule | All Line Scores & Box Scores

OOSTERHOUT (Neth.) - Twins on Saturday won twice vs. Centrals, but needed an extra inning in the opener to win 5-4. Game Two was then won, 5-3.

In the opener, Centrals took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. With one out, Solange Starrenburg and Kristel Dalmeijer both reached on an error. Maud Braakman then followed with an RBI-single. Moments later, a wild pitch enabled Dalmeijer to score.
Twins tied the score immediately in the home second after a weird first at bat. In the opening at bat, Sandy Lauwers singled with one out. Next, Daisy de Peinder was listed to come to bat according to the official starting line-up. Instead, Caroline Sins, who was batting fourth, came to bat and walked. Then De Peinder took her turn at bat and hit a force play-grounder on which Lauwers was eliminated at third base. The inning ended when Andrea Lindgren fouled out. Despite the batting out of turn, no one on the Centrals-side protested. They also didn't protest afterwards when Twins restored the order and De Peinder and Sins started to hit in the right order. In a situation like this it is up to the teams to protest, as the Umpires and Official Scorer are not allowed to interfere when someone hits out of order. The mix-up happened because the regular batting order was changed before the game with De Peinder and Sins changing spots, but for some reason the change wasn't written down on the official line-up sheet.

In the second inning, Twins scored their two runs with two outs. With Micky Jansen (single) and Fabiënne van Uden (infield-hit) on base, Marjan Smit hit a 2-run triple.
Twins then took the lead in the third inning when Daisy de Peinder and Caroline Sins, now hitting in the correct order according to the line-up, but in the wrong order as opposed to the first inning, led off with back-to-back triples, followed by an error on a grounder by Andrea Lindgren.
Centrals came alongside in the fourth inning. Maud Braakman led off with a walk and scored when Amber Dammers tripled, after her at bat was prolonged when a foul ball was missed. Dammers later scored on a sac-fly by Marieke Brouwer.
Twins broke the 4-4 tie in the eighth inning. After Andrea Lindgren had reached on an error in the third inning, Centrals-starter Randi Nielson had retired 15 batters in a row. But now in the eighth, with tie-break runner Sandy Lauwers on second base, she gave up a game-winning double to Daisy de Peinder.
Eventually, the batting order didn't needed to be changed, as the regular order was productive after all. But a Centrals-protest might have changed this game.

In Game Two, no changes were made to the batting order and Twins was leading 5-0 after the second inning.
In both the first and the second inning, the first four batters in the batting order, Marjan Smit, Sandy Lauwers, Daisy de Peinder and Caroline Sins hit four consecutive basehits.
In the first, Marjan Smit led off with an inside-the-park-homerun, then Sandy Lauwers singled and stole second. She then tried to score on a single by Daisy de Peinder, but was thrown out at home. Caroline Sins then also singled, but two strikeouts ended the at bat.
In the second inning, four runs were scored. Sherry Winklaar led off with a single and scored when a throwing error was made on an one-out force play-grounder by Fabiënne van Uden, who reached third base on the play. She then scored when Marjan Smit singled, followed by a single by Sandy Lauwers. Daisy de Peinder and Caroline Sins then added RBI-singles to make it 5-0.
While collecting nine basehits in the first two innings, Twins added only two more in the next four innings and didn't score, as Centrals turned two double plays.
Centrals came back with two runs in the third inning. With one out, Marieke Brouwer walked and Marjorie Henriquez reached on a fielder's choice. They then scored on a double by Bianca Hardeveld.
In the sixth, Centrals scored another run when Fabiënne Stuart singled and scored on a sac-fly, but the team was unable to turn the game in their favor.

In the second inning, Tex Town Tigers added a run when Mieke van der Zwaan singled and scored on a single by Linda ter Steege.
Sparks came back with a run in the home second. Noémi Boekel then reached on an infield-hit and scored on a single by Lyanne Horeman, who also has a former national team and big league-parent, being third baseman Harm Horeman, who played for Schoten and Amstel Tijgers in the seventies and eighties.
In the fourth inning, Sparks came alongside. With one out, Noémi Boekel again singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Kinge Bouma.
Priscilla Groeneveld was relieved by another second team pitcher, Maaike Blaauwgeers, in the third inning, who retired six batters in a row. Despite not feeling fit completely, Blake Hoorelbeke took over in the fifth inning.
Initially, Sparks took a 3-2 lead in the sixth when Chantal Versluis singled and went on to score on a wild pitch.
However, Tex Town Tigers came back with four runs in the seventh inning to hand Sparks its first loss. Linda ter Steege led off with a single and was replaced for the second time in this game by a pinch-runner, this time Virginie Anneveld, who advanced when everyone was safe on a sac-bunt by Breedge Quinn. A sac-bunt by Meike Witteveen moved the two runners, after which the bases were loaded when Lindsey Meadows was given an intentional pass. But then Merel Oosterveld followed with a 2-run double that gave TTT the lead, followed by a 2-run single by Monique ter Steege to produce two incurance runs.
