In the opening game, Tex Town Tigers had only one more runner more on base than Terrasvogels in the first six innings. Both teams registered only two basehits in that span off pitchers Lindsey Meadows and Aimee Murch, who had a pitching duel going on. In the first inning, with two outs, Christina Rolla singled for Terrasvogels off Lindsey Meadows and in the second at bat, Mariëlle Vleugels singled with one out. In the fourth at bat, Solange Starrenburg struckout, but reached on a passed ball to become Terrasvogels' third and final runner. Hereafter, Meadows retired the next 10 batters in a row. On the other side, Meike Witteveen led off the home first with a walk and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kirsten Holshof and a single by Merel Oosterveld. She then tried to score on a grounder by Lindsey Meadows, but was eliminated at the plate. This was the home team's lone scoring opportunity, until the seventh inning. After the out at home, Aimee Murch retired seven batters in a row, before giving up a lead-off single to Merel Oosterveld (who was 3-for-3), but she was retired in a double play. With this, Murch retired the next eight batters again.

In the seventh inning, Merel Oosterveld led off with a single, stole second base and advanced on a throwing error. Next, Lindsey Meadows popped out and Virginie Anneveld lined out, but then Karin Tuk delivered the game-winning single.

In the second game, Tex Town Tigers got nine runners on base in the first six innings, but only one of them reached third base. On the other hand, Terrasvogels had only five, but two of them reached third base and they got the bases loaded with one out in the fourth inning, meaning the team from Santpoort had the best scoring possibilities in this match-up.

Austrian pitcher Martina Lackner had retired the first eight batters she saw, before walking Femke Haage with two outs in the third inning. Linda Hoenderdos followed with a single that put runners on second and third base, but then a grounder ended this scoring opportunity for Terrasvogels. In the fourth, Christina Rolla reached on an error to lead-off the at bat. Next, Kaitlyn Gentile flied out, but the bases got loaded when Solange Starrenburg reached on a fielder's choice and Mariëlle Vleugels walked. To get out of this jam, Tex Town Tigers' new Head Coach Kathy McKormack decided to bring back Lindsey Meadows as pitcher. And she didn't disappoint, as she struckout the next two batters to get out of the inning and retired all 11 batters she faced.

In the first TTT-at bat, Petra van Heijst singled, but stranded. In the second, Nadine Marinus (fielder's choice) was on base with two outs when rookie Marije ten Thij singled, but both also were left behind. After Aimee Murch retired the side in the third (two line drive catches by 3B Iris Kolman), TTT got its lone runner on third base in the first six at bats. With one out, Lindsey Meadows doubled, then her pinch-runner Anahelis Francisca advanced on a 2-out single by Nadine Marinus, but a strikeout ended the inning. After stranding another runner in the fifth, Karin Tuk and Nadine Marinus singled with two outs in the sixth, but again the runners were left behind. In the home of the seventh, Tex Town Tigers struck again, thanks to an error. Lead-off hitter Dinet Oosting reached on a fielding error and moved on a single by Merel Oosterveld. Just as in Game One, two outs followed and this time, Virginie Anneveld hit the deciding basehit to give TTT the victory.

Sparks Haarlem vs. Olympia Haarlem, 15-0 (3), 4-1
HAARLEM (Neth.) - Sparks Haarlem set a record on Saturday by sending 17 players to the plate and scoring 13 runs in one inning, leading to a huge 15-0 win in three innings in the opener vs. Olympia Haarlem. The double-header marked the return of Marloes Fellinger, who was the designated player in both games. Initially, the former Olympian announced her retirement after last season for which she was named the league's Most Valuable Player. However, in recent weeks, she decided to come back again and will join the team when needed. And after participating in a game during the pre-season's Jan de Wit Tournament, today she played again in her first regular season-games.

In the opening game, Courtney Lyons led off for Olympia Haarlem with a single off Dagmar Bloeming, but then a strikeout and double play followed. In the home of the first at bat, Sparks scored its first run when Nathalie Gosewehr singled into leftfield, then was able to speed around the bases to score as an outfield-error followed. Hereafter, three outs followed.

In the second inning, Olympia came close to scoring, as it got the bases loaded with two outs. With one out, Karlene Headley-Cooper walked, but was forced out on a grounder by Lisanne van den Berg. Next, Laura Burggraaf and Gwen Brinkman also walked, but then Dagmar Bloeming ended the inning with a strikeout.

And that set the scene for a wild second at bat for Sparks. In the inning, 17 players stepped up to the plate with the first 16 of them reaching base safely! Eight basehits were hits, resulting in 13 runs! Five players scored two runs in this inning, while Noémi Boekel had two hits (a single and triple). But this wasn't the inning for veteran Kim Kluijskens, as she was the lone player not to score in this at bat. Kim also didn't have a basehit in this inning (as did Rebecca Soumeru) and she was eliminated twice in the at bat. It all started when Noémi Boekel led off with a single and advanced to third base on an error. After Areke Spel walked, Marloes Fellinger singled in the first run. Judith Diepeveen followed with a runproducing bunt-single, then the bases got loaded when Rebecca Soumeru walked.

Another run was then scored when Nathalie Gosewehr also walked and the bases were cleared when Chantal Versluis followed with a 3-run triple. Next, Kim Kluijskens walked and Debby Connor (the ninth batter in the inning) delivered an RBI-single, but Kim was thrown out trying to reach third base. Hereafter, Olympia-starter Courtney Lyons was relieved by rookie Deion van der Voort, but the scoring continued. Noémi Boekel greeted the new pitcher with an RBI-triple and scored herself on a throwing error. The bases got loaded again when Marloes Fellinger and Judith Diepeveen both walked, then an error on a force play-grounder by Rebecca Soumeru led to another run. Two more runs were added on a single by Nathalie Gosewehr and another one when Chantal Versluis reached on an error and became the 16th consecutive batter to reach base safely. The inning then ended when next batter Kim Kluijskens lined out to Courtney Lyons, who had taken over as short stop and doubled up Versluis, who had left second base on the hit.

In the Olympia-third, Courtney Lyons led off with another single, but was doubled up again. In the home third, Sparks added a run to reach the 15-run difference to end the game prematurely. With one out, Noémi Boekel (who was 3-for-3) singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Areke Spel.

In Game Two, Sparks came close to opening the score in the first inning when Nathalie Gosewehr was hit by a pitch, stole second and third base and Kim Kluijskens walked with one out, but then two fly-outs followed. With the first flyout, Olympia-pitcher Courtney Lyons started to retire nine batters in a row. In the first five innings, Olympia got only two basehits off Kirsten Scheele, which were both hit by Marisèla de Wind. She hit a 2-out single in the first and a lead-off single in the fourth. In the fifth at bat, Olympia's lead-off hitter Gwen Brinkman was hit by a pitch and advanced on two following sac-bunts by Eliza Rikkelman and Rosanne de Vries, but stranded on third base.

In the home of the fifth, Sparks struck. With two outs, Nathalie Gosewehr walked and Chantal Versluis followed with a 2-run homerun, which not only gave Sparks a 2-0 lead, but also broke the No-Hitter of Courtney Lyons. After Olympia stranded two more runners in the sixth inning, Sparks added two runs in its sixth. Debby Connor reached second base on an outfield-error and moved on a wild pitch. Noémi Boekel then walked and stole second base. The score was raised to 3-0 when Areke Spel hit a sacrifice fly and another run was added on a single by Marloes Fellinger.

Olympia then scored its lone run in the seventh inning when Eliza Rikkelman led off with a single, stole second base, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a sac-fly by Rosanne de Vries.

DSS vs. Euro Stars, 7-0, 5-6
HAARLEM (Neth.) - DSS, which ran into some big losses during the pre-season Jan de Wit Tournament, registered its second win in three games in the regular season with a 7-0 shutout-victory vs. Euro Stars in the first game of their double-header. In Game Two, DSS was en route to its third win, but failed to hold onto a 5-1 lead and lost 6-5.

In the opener, veteran pitcher Sonja Pannen dominated again, just like she did a week ago in the season's opener. The righthander struckout eight batters and gave up only three basehits, two of them coming in the fourth inning. The experienced pitcher gave up a lead-off single to Ellen Venker in the first inning, who ended up on third base, but stranded there. Hereafter, Pannen retired 10 batters in a row, before giving up back-to-back singles (with one out) to Kim Donkers and Anouk van den Heuvel in the fourth inning. But then, a flyout and force play ended the at bat for Euro Stars. Pannen then retired the next six batters again to complete her second consecutive shutout.

DSS was held hitless in the first two innings by American Laura Benardinelli, but then scored twice with two outs in the third at bat. Julie Owen was then hit by a pitch and scored when an outfield-error followed a double by next batter Amanda Hess, who then scored herself when Jacqueline Wesselink tripled. In the fifth inning, three runs were added. With one out, Kelly Zuurendonk singled and advanced on a wild pitch, then Julie Owen was hit by a pitch again. After a flyout, Jacqueline Wesselink singled in a run. A wild pitch during Kim Scholtes' at bat then led to another run, but also a pitching change, as Rebecca Antonissen was brought in to take over for Benardinelli. Antonissen also uncorked a wild pitch, which gave DSS its fifth run.

The lead was increased to 7-0 in the sixth inning. Tippy Vink and Yvette Krooder led off with a walk, but then the first was forced out on a grounder by pinch-hitter Tessa Hoekstra. But after a strikeout, Julie Owen singled to load the bases and Amanda Hess followed with a 2-run double to reach the 7-run difference and end the game.

In Game Two, DSS opened the score in the first inning when Amanda Hess tripled and scored on a wild pitch, then the lead was doubled in the next at bat when Kelly Roest led off with a single, stole second base, advanced on a passed ball and scored on another passed ball. Euro Stars answered with a run in the third inning. Ellen Venker led off with a single, then moved on a sac-bunt by Kim Donkers with one out. Anouk van den Heuvel followed with a single, as did Davinia de Kwant. This enabled Venker to score, but Van den Heuvel was thrown out at the plate when she also tried to score.

In the fourth inning, DSS got the run back when Kim Scholtes led off with a walk, moved on a sac-bunt by Kelly Roest and scored on a single by Yvette Krooder. In the fifth at bat, DSS increased its lead to 5-1. With one out, Julie Owen walked and scored on a single by Amanda Hess, who went on to score on an error.

However, the 5-1 lead wasn't enough. In the sixth inning, Euro Stars narrowed the deficit to 5-4 by scoring three runs. Kim Donkers led off with a double and scored on an one-out single by Davinia de Kwant. With two outs, an outfield-error, which followed a single by Kirsten Vierdag enabled both De Kwant as the batter to score and make it 5-4.

Leading 5-4 in the seventh, Sonja Pannen was sent in to relief Amanda Hess and close the game, but the veteran was succesfull this time. With one out, Ellen Venker reached on an error and with two outs, Pannen herself made an error on a grounder by Kim Donkers. Next, Anouk van den Heuvel doubled to bring in both runners and give Euro Stars a 6-5 lead. In the home of the seventh, Rebecca Antonissen gave up an one-out single, but retired the next two batters to seal the comeback-victory.

An infield-hit by Sandy Lauwers then enabled Catoen to score the tying run and put runners on second and third base. Vonk was then thrown out at the plate on a grounder to first base by Femke Duffhues and a strikeout followed, leaving two runners in scoring position and forcing extra innings.

In the eighth, Centrals took its fourth lead when tie-break runner Silea Bos scored on a single by Moniek Coorn-Baaij, but Twins tied the score for the fourth time in its eighth when tie-break runner Micky Jansen scored on a single by Fabienne van Uden, who was 3-for-4, had three RBI's and reached base five times.
