ALKMAAR (Neth.) - Alcmaria Victrix on Monday won 3-0 and 8-5 vs. the Dutch Junior Team to give them a comfortable third place in the Dutch big league in its first season back on the highest level.

In the opener, winning pitcher Femke van Dusschoten struckout six and gave up four hits in the 3-0 shutout.

Alcmaria opened the score with two runs in the second inning. Kym Turnell led off with a double, then advanced on a wild pitch with one out. The first then scored when a throwing error followed on a non-caught infield fly.

Alcmaria scored its third run in the fourth. Nadia Bron then walked with two outs and scored when Maxime van Dalen followed with a triple.

Except for the last inning, the Dutch Juniors reached base in all innings. In the third inning, Eva Voortman led off with a triple, but later was eliminated at home. In the fourth, the team left the bases loaded. With one out, Cindy van der Zanden singled and Lueji Petchkovsky Morais reached on an error. With two outs, Eva Voortman was walked intentionally, but then a pop-up ended the at bat.

In the second game, Alcmaria led comfortably 5-0 after five innings when the Dutch Juniors started to come back. In the first inning, Alcmaria scored twice when Kimberly Jones and Anne Vlietstra singled. The two respectively scored on a throwing error and a stolen base.

In the second inning, three runs were added with two outs. Annemiek de Rover led off with a single, then two outs followed. Her pinch-runner Denice van Dijk then advanced on a single by Kimberly Jones and scored on a bunt-single by Anne Blaauwgeers. A single by Anne Vlietstra then accounted for the next two runs and lifted the lead to 5-0.

In the sixth, the Dutch Juniors narrowed the deficit to 5-3. Lueji Petchkovsky Morais and Eva Voortman singled, which led to a pitching change. Next, Sophie Bugter also singled (bunt), but Voortman overran second base and was eliminated. With two outs, Kiki Draaijer tripled to bring in two runs, then scored herself when Floor van Dijk followed with a double.

Alcmaria got the three runs back immediately in its sixth with two outs on an RBI-triple by Kimberly Jones and a 2-run, inside-the-park-homerun by Anne Blaauwgeers.

In the seventh, the Dutch Juniors came back with two more runs on a 2-run double by Sophie Bugter, but ended up empty-handed.
