BUSSUM (Neth.) - HCAW and Head Dè Flanegin have separated. The separation came Monday-evening after the team had played a make-up game at home and lost against Curaçao Neptunus. According to a report in local newspaper De Gooi- en Eemlander on Tuesday-evening (September 29), Flanegin informed the team management after the game that he would step down effective immediately. A reason for his resignation was not given.

On Tuesday-evening, Assistant Coach Rudy Dirksen led the team during another make-up game against Neptunus, this time in Rotterdam. Dirksen is now the lone coach of the Bussum-team. Starting on Thursday, HCAW will start a 3-game series against L&D Amsterdam Pirates. The team still has a chance to reach the Holland Series.

Dè Flanegin was named Head Coach of HCAW in late November 2018. He then succeeded Roeland Henrique, who had led the team in the 2018 season, but stepped down thereafter. Henrique's Assistant Coach Rudy Dirksen stayed on in the new coaching-staff.

In 2016 and 2017, Flanegin had been the Head Coach of Hoofddorp Pioniers, the club where he had played his entire 22-year career (21 in the highest league) as first baseman/outfielder.

In 2019, his first season as Head Coach of HCAW, Flanegin led the team to third place in the regular season with a 22-18-2 record. With that, the team qualified for the Play-Offs. In the best-of-five Play-Off against L&D Amsterdam Pirates, HCAW was swept in three games and eliminated for the Holland Series.

This season, HCAW finished in fourth place with a 12-8-1 record to qualify for the Top-4 Pool. In this Pool, the team began with a 3-1 win against Hoofddorp Pioniers, but then lost the next four games in a row. Twice against Pioniers (7-0, 10-5) and twice against Neptunus (3-0, 9-2).
