Twins Oosterhout confirms addition of three new players

OOSTERHOUT (Neth.) - Twins Oosterhout announced and confirmed on Wednesday-evening (November 1) that three new players have been added to the roster for next season. The transfer-period ends on November 15 at midnight. Twins Oosterhout is the first team to announce changes on its roster.

Righthanded pitcher Jack Wagner, righthanded pitcher Joost Terpstra and outfielder Wijnand Ruben will all wear the shirt of the Oosterhout-team in 2024.

This season, Jack Wagner played for Quick Amersfoort and was 1-5 in seven games (all starts) with a 6.10 ERA in the first half of the season. He struckout 25 batters in 38 1/3 inning. In the second half (Bottom-5), Wagner was 4-3 with a 4.29 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 50 1/3 inning in 10 games (8 starts).

On April 9, Wagner got his first-ever at bat in the highest league in a 4-0 loss against Hoofddorp Pioniers when he was the designated hitter for Quick. He was 0-for-3, striking out all three times. On June 24, he again was the DH for Quick in a game against Pioniers. Quick now won 13-3 and Wagner got his first RBI when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. However, he also struckout three times again. Wagner also played for Quick in 2022. He made his big league-debut during the 2020 season when he threw one inning for HCAW for whom he also played in 2021.

Joost Terpstra played for Tridents, the second team of Neptunus in the First Division, in the past seasons. During the 2021 season, the righthander made his lone appearances in the main-squad of the Rotterdam-club. Terpstra then was inserted in two games, throwing in three innings in which he gave up seven basehits and four runs.

Wijnand Ruben played for The Hawks this season (seventh place, 2nd Division A), which is the club where his brothers Berend and Marnix also started their career. Both played for Twins this season. Marnix was the Best Hitter of the league this year with a .393 average and also led with 39 stolen bases. Berend also acted as Assistant Coach of Head Coach Rob Hendriks, who also will lead the team again next year. This season, Hans Ruben, the father of the three brothers, was the Public Address Announcer of Twins.

Twins Oosterhout also announced that righthanded pitcher Jeffrey Levenstone, lefthanded pitcher Jairo Samboe and catcher Yurdion Martie will not return to the team in 2024. Their new club is not known yet.

This season, Twins Oosterhout just missing qualifying for the Top-4 Pool, finishing in fifth place, based on the head-to-head result against RCH-Pinguïns, which therefore finished fourth. With that, the team had to play in the Bottom-5 Pool in the second half of the season. Twins then finished in first place and had to play against RCH Memorie Sieraden in the Wild Card Bottom Series. Twins won the best-of-three 2-1 to advance to the Play-Offs, meeting Neptunus in a best-of-five. Twins was swept in three games, which ended its season.

On Sunday, October 22, the 2023 season ended on the latest date ever. On that day Amsterdam Pirates defeated Curaçao Neptunus 9-8 to win the best-of-seven Holland Series 4-3 and become the new champion. In the Play-Offs, Pirates already had eliminated and dethroned reigning champion HCAW.
