ROTTERDAM (Neth.) -
On Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11, the third edition of the European Big League Tour will take place in Rotterdam.
In the previous two years, the clinics also were staged in Amsterdam, Haarlem and Utrecht, but this year, both days will be held in the Topsportcenter in Rotterdam, which is located near 'De Kuip', the soccer stadium of Feyenoord.
Dutch Major League-pitcher Rick van den Hurk set up the clinic three years ago and invited colleagues to come to the Netherlands to give clinics to and have question-and-answer sessions with young players.
The first two editions were big successes.
In 2010, John Baker (Florida Marlins), Adam Jones (Baltimore Orioless), Jeremy Guthrie (Baltimore Orioles, Roger Bernadina (Washington Nationals), Greg Halman (Seattle Mariners), Brady Anderson (former player) and Kyle Barbour (strenghth and conditioning trainer Arizona Diamondbacks) took part in the trip to the Netherlands and Belgium.
Last year, Prince Fielder (Milwaukee Brewers), Mike Stanton (Florida Marlins, Dexter Fowler (Colorado Rockies), Adam Jones (Baltimore Orioles), Roger Bernadina (Washington Nationals), Greg Halman (Seattle Mariners) and former player Bobby Bonilla participated and also traveled to Parma (Italy) and Prague (Czech Republic).
This year, Rick van den Hurk (Pittsburgh Pirates) is joined by Roger Bernadina (Washington Nationals), Jeremy Guthrie (Kansas City Royals), Chris Dickerson (New York Yankees) and Alex Liddi (Seattle Mariners), the first Italian player to reach the Major League.
On Saturday and Sunday, the clinics are being held from 12:00 - 2:00 PM and 3:30 - 5:30 PM.
Coming week, the players travel to London, where a clinic will be held on Saturday, November 17.
