Evert-Jan 't Hoen leads new coachingstaff Neptunus

ROTTERDAM (Neth.) - On August 30, DOOR Neptunus announced that former players Evert-Jan 't Hoen and Jeroen Sluijter were named to its coachingstaff for the 2013 season, replacing Wim Martinus and Adonis Kemp. It was also announced that this years Head Coach Jan Collins will return to the staff as one of the coaches, but that the positions of the three were yet to be named.

Evert-Jan 't Hoen now has confirmed himself that he will be the Manager next season, while Sluijter will be the 3B Coach. Collins returns to the dug-out and will handle pitchers and catchers.

Since 2008, 't Hoen (36) is the executive coordinator of Unicorns and since 2009, he is one of the coaches of DOOR Tridents, the Rookie League-team of Neptunus. The former infielder played in 287 games in the Dutch big league, playing for Twins (1994-1996) and Neptunus (2001-2007). From 1996-2001, Evert-Jan 't Hoen played professionally in the organisation of the Anaheim Angels. 't Hoen played in 485 minor league-games, including 66 in three Triple-A seasons (1999, 2000, 2001).

After returning to the Netherlands, 't Hoen, who began his career with Alphians, played again for Neptunus, as well as for the Dutch National Team. From 1994-1996 and 1999-2005, 't Hoen played in 123 official games for the national squad, with whom he participated in three Olympic Games (Atlanta, 1996; Sydney, 2000; Athens, 2004), as well as one Olympic Qualifying Tournament, four World Championships, three Intercontinental Cups, four European Championships, four Haarlem Baseball Weeks and two World Port Tournaments. He played his last game for the national squad during the World Championship of 2005 in the Netherlands.

Jeroen Sluijter (37) is a youth coach for Neptunus since 2011. The former infielder played in the Dutch big league from 1994-2010, appearing in 670 games for Twins (1994-1995), ADO (1996) and Neptunus (1997-2010).

Sluijter, who began playing baseball for Zwijndrecht played for the Dutch National Team in 1997, 2002-2004, 2008 and 2010, appearing in 37 official games. With the national squad, Sluijter participated in one Olympic Games (Beijing, 2008), one Olympic Qualifying Tournament, one World Championship, one Intercontinental Cup, two European Championships, four Haarlem Baseball Weeks and two World Port Tournaments. In 2010, he played his last game for the national team during the European Championship in Germany.

Jan Collins (64) is coach of Neptunus since 1988 in various positions, varying from Head Coach to Bench Coach to Catching Coach. In 1989-1991, Collins was a member of the coachingstaff of the Dutch National Team. The Aruban-born former catcher played in 368 Dutch big league games, playing for Feyenoord (1973-1974) and Neptunus (1979-1990).
