Iran wins bronze in Pakistan

LAHORE (Pakistan) -
The Islamic Republic of Iran on Tuesday won the Bronze Medal of the 10th West Asia Baseball Cup by winning 14-0 vs. the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The final of the 4-nation tournament between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played on Wednesday.
Iran and Afghanistan were both winless before the game, so the winner would decide third place.
Fine pitching by Iran kept Afghanistan from scoring a run, while their own offense opened the score with three runs in the first at bat.
From there, Iran kept on scoring to increase its lead.
After scoring once in the second inning, Iran added three more runs in the third at bat.
Next, two runs were scored in the fourth and the fifth inning, followed by another 3-run rally in the sixth inning to make it 14-0.
Kayan Raha scored four runs for the Iranian squad.
Today's Guest of Honor was Usman Anwar, the Director General of the Sports Board Punjab.
