First victory for Mr. Cocker HCAW

BUSSUM / VLEUTEN / HOOFDDORP / DORDRECHT (Neth.) - Mr. Cocker HCAW registered its first victory of the new season on Thursday-evening, winning comfortably with a 14-2 score against ADO Lakers. With the win, HCAW broke a 9-game losing streak, while ADO Lakers extended its losing streak to eight games and is now in last place, based on the result against HCAW.

League-leaders Corendon Kinheim and DOOR Neptunus both won their sixth consecutive game. Kinheim won 6-2 at UVV and Neptunus won big vs. Vaessen Pioniers, 11-3.

L&D Amsterdam Pirates won 8-2 at Mampaey The Hawks to win its fourth game in a row.



Mr. Cocker HCAW vs. ADO Lakers
At Bussum, HCAW collected 11 basehits off of two pitchers, while ADO Lakers hit only two basehits, both off of starting pitcher Sander Helmendach. HCAW registered its first victory of the new season, winning comfortably with a 14-2 score.

HCAW opened the score with two runs in the first inning. Lead-off hitter Jasper Keijzer reached on an error and Jorin van Amstel singled, then Linoy Croes followed with an RBI-double off of starter Laurens Oele. Next, Jesus Latte also reached on an error. With one out, a grounder by Sergino Martis made it 2-0.

In the second inning, HCAW rallied for six runs. Barry Mastenbroek led off with a walk and Jasper Keijzer singled, then two outs followed. A 2-run double by Latte, 2-run error on a grounder by Dylan de Mello, wild pitch and RBI-single by Mastenbroek in his second at bat in this inning then lifted the lead to 8-0.

Singles by Mastenbroek and Keijzer then produced two more runs in the fourth inning. ADO Lakers got two runs back in the top of the sixth inning on a grounder by Edison Bito and an error. But in the home of the sixth, HCAW scored four more runs to make it 14-2. In the at bat, reliever Rick van der Post walked Martis, De Mello and Max Clarijs. The first was then forced out at home on a grounder by Mastenbroek. With two outs, a run was scored on a single by Jorin van Amstel and the next three followed on a single by Linoy Croes.

UVV vs. Corendon Kinheim
At Vleuten, Kinheim won 6-2 at UVV.

Kinheim struck with four runs in the first inning off of starting pitcher Jurjen van Zijl. Lead-off hitter René Cremer was hit by a pitch, then an error followed on a force play-grounder by Dirk van 't Klooster. A force out and strikeout followed, then the first run was scored on a single by Jeffrey Arends. The bases were loaded when Mervin Gario was also hit by a pitch. A double by Rachid Engelhardt cleared the bases and made it 4-0.

In the bottom of the first inning, UVV got one run back on a double play-grounder by Dennis De Quint. In the sixth, a single by Ricky Daal made it 4-2, but Kinheim took more distance in the seventh and eighth inning. A single by Roy Seltenrijch in the 7th and a single by Dirk van 't Klooster in the 8th accounted for the runs.

Vaessen Pioniers vs. DOOR Neptunus
At Hoofddorp, Neptunus won big vs. Pioniers, 11-3.

After two scoreless at bats, Neptunus scored three runs in the third inning when Shaldimar Daantji and Gyenuar Lopez walked and Dwayne Kemp homered with two outs. Pioniers narrowed the deficit to 3-2 by scoring runs in the third and fourth inning on two errors.

Neptunus took more distance in the fifth by scoring four runs, thanks to a basesloaded walk for Kemp (who had 5 RBI's), RBI-single by Rafaël Jozefa and 2-run double by Benjamin Dille. A force play-grounder by Kemp and a wild pitch made it 9-2 in the sixth inning. Two runs were added in the eighth at bat on a 2-run double by Gianison Boekhoudt. Pioniers was able to add one more run in the home of the eighth on double by Phil Ortez.

Mampaey The Hawks vs. L&D Amsterdam Pirates
At Dordrecht, Amsterdam Pirates collected 13 basehits and decided the game with a 5-run rally in the third inning to win 8-2 at The Hawks.

In the third, the first run was scored on a single by Jesse Aussems, who had three basehits tonight. Singles by Percy Isenia and Bas de Jong accounted for the next two runs, then a double by Kenny Berkenbosch brought in two more runs to make it 5-0.

In the fourth, two runs were added when Jesse Aussems homered, then a single by Kevin Weijgertse made it 8-0 in the fifth. Amsterdam then failed to increase the score to a 10-run lead to end the game premarturely and instead gave up two runs in the seventh off of Ben Grover, who made his first appearance of the season. The runs were scored via a basesloaded walk for Joris Naber and a force play-grounder by Shurendell Borgschot.

Amsterdam-starter Rob Cordemans threw five innings in the first game against the club where he had played in his youth before making his big league-debut with Neptunus in 1994. Cordemans started his career with Schiedam, but after two years transfered to The Hawks, where he played from his eighth until his 18th year. Tonight, Cordemans struckout five batters in five innings and won his fourth game of the season.
