 Make-up games rain out (again)

  VLEUTEN / DORDRECHT (Neth.) -
The two make-up games scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, May 27) have both been cancelled due to ongoing rain.
And so, the story continues for these games.
They were part of the series of games scheduled for May 8 and 10-11, but in that period, including May 9 and 12, it rained heavily resulting in a record of 17 cancellations.
Tonight's games were the last two remaining from that schedule.
The games have now been re-scheduled for next Tuesday-evening, June 3, starting at 7:30 PM.
Initially, the game between DOOR Neptunus and Vaessen Pioniers was scheduled on that evening.
That game is one of three games between these two teams, who were scheduled beforehand on a Tuesday-evening, as Pioniers and Neptunus participate in the European Cup Tournament later in June.
The Neptunus vs. Pioniers was to be the opening game for the second half of the regular season.
But as tonight's now cancelled games belong to the first half, it has been decided that these games will be played first.
A new date for the Neptunus vs. Pioniers match-up has not yet been announced, but that might be Tuesday, July 8.

Mampaey The Hawks vs. DOOR Neptunus
As it had rained almost the entire morning in the Rotterdam-area, the game between Mampaey The Hawks and DOOR Neptunus, which was to be played at Dordrecht, was cancelled around 3 PM.
The Hawks had announced that rookie righthander Jari Krutzen was to be its starter.
Krutzen would have made his big league-debut with this game, but now has to wait for another chance.
The game is re-scheduled for Tuesday, June 3.

UVV vs. Vaessen Pioniers
At Vleuten, the game between UVV and league-leader Vaessen Pioniers also was cancelled in the afternoon, as the rain had made the field unplayable.
Groundskeeper Frans van Elst had done all he could again to prepare the field, but in the end, it simply wasn't possible to play tonight.
The game is re-scheduled for next Tuesday, June 3.
