Amsterdam Pirates opened the score in the first inning scoring once off of Rik Geestman.
With two outs, the lefthander walked Kenny Berkenbosch, who then scored on a following double by Bas Nooij.
In the next four innings, Amsterdam stranded four runners and was held scoreless.
In the second, with one out, Rashid Gerard and Linoy Croes singled, but were left at second and third base.
In the third, Remco Draijer singled with two outs and also stranded.
In the fourth, again with two outs, Croes (who was 4-for-4) singled again, then stole second base and was left.
New pitcher Jorn van Ingen then retired the side in the fifth, but gave up two unearned runs with two outs in the sixth at bat.
With one out, Koen Nooij singled, then stole second base with two outs.
He then advanced on a single by Rashid Gerard and scored when a throwing error followed.
A double by Linoy Croes put Pirates ahead, 3-0.
Veteran pitcher Rob Cordemans started for the Amsterdam-squad and held DSS six innings scoreless.
The righthander encountered no problems.
He gave up a 2-out single to Mitchell Koot in the first inning, but closed with a strikeout.
After retiring the side in the second inning, he gave up a lead-off single to Sven Jongejans in the third.
He was then forced out on a grounder by Mitchel Dautzenberg, who later stranded on second base.
Cordemans got another 1-2-3 inning in the fourth, then gave up an one-out single to Joffrey Heus in the fifth, but the Amsterdam-defense then turned a double play.
In the sixth, Cordemans retired three batters in a row for the third time.
After Pirates stranded runners on second and third base in the top of the seventh inning, DSS scored its lone run moments later.
Robin Schel took over the pitching for Cordemans, but ran into problems.
While DSS got four baserunners, it scored only once.
Schel walked Mitchell Koot and Tino van Erk, then got the bases loaded when Seb Visser singled.
A following walk for Levine Gabriëls led to a run and a pitching change.
Dennis Burgersdijk took over, then Van Erk was caught stealing at home and two grounders ended the inning.
Pirates answered with two runs in the eighth off of new pitcher Kevin Geestman to take more distance.

Daan Hendrix pitched the ninth inning for Amsterdam, got two baserunners, but ended the game with a strikeout.
