Pioniers opened the score with three runs in the third inning off of starter Tim Halderman. Kevin Weijgertse led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Max Draijer. Next, a pop-fly by Daniel Fernandes was missed. Danny Rombley then singled into leftfield to bring in Weijgertse. Fernandes moved to third base, then also was able to score when an outfield-error followed on Rombley's single. Moments later, Rombley scored the third run on a sacrifice fly by Dirk van 't Klooster.

A 4-run rally followed in the fourth at bat. Mark-Jan Moorman led off with a walk, then Quintin De Cuba singled. Next batter Kevin Dirksen then singled to lift the lead to 4-0. A wild pitch then brought De Cuba and Dirksen to second and third base and the two scored on a following double by Kevin Weijgertse. With one out, the latter scored the seventh run for Pioniers when a throwing error to third base followed after Weijgertse had advanced on a passed ball.

In the next four innings, Pioniers added five more basehits, but was unable to score more runs.

DSS came closest to scoring a run in the fourth inning. With one out, Pioniers-starter Elton Koeiman gave up singles to Sven Jongejans and Ryan Miner. With two outs, the bases got loaded when Tino van Erk also singled. But the inning then ended when a grounder by Seb Visser ended in front of catcher Quintin De Cuba, who was able to force out Jongejans at the plate.
