Neptunus scored a run in its first and second inning, but then would give the most runs in one game in more than 18 years.
The 19 runs are the most Neptunus gave up since April 26, 1997.
Back then, 18 years, two months and eight days ago, Neptunus gave up 18 runs against.......Pioniers!
Last year, Neptunus gave up 17 runs against L&D Amsterdam Pirates on September 28 in Game 2 of the Holland Series.
In the first and second inning, Pioniers and its starter Ricardo Hernandez Sanchez had a shaky beginning.
Stijn van der Meer and Benjamin Dille opened the first at bat with singles, then advanced on a passed ball.
Van der Meer was then eliminated at the plate trying to score on a grounder to third base, but Gianison Boekhoudt followed with a sacrifice fly.
In the second inning, Hernandez walked Christian Diaz, who moved on a sacrifice bunt by Adrian Anthony.
Hereafter, Gyenuar Lopez also walked and Urving Kemp then delivered a runscoring single to make it 2-0.
It was to be the last run Neptunus scored in this game.
Next, Stijn van der Meer was hit by a pitch, but then the game starting turning the way Pioniers when it turned a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning.
Hernandez retired the side in the third inning, then was backed with 13 runs in the fourth inning!
Neptunus-starter Orlando Yntema initially retired the first six batters he faced, three of them with a strikeout.
Pioniers then got the bases loaded in the third with one out.
Taylor Clemensia doubled and Max Draijer and Daniel Fernandes both walked.
But Yntema ended the threat by striking out veterans Dirk van 't Klooster and Danny Rombley.
In the top of the fourth inning, Pioniers struck with 13 runs on nine basehits off of three pitchers.
Yntema faced nine batters, eight of whom reached base safely.
The bases got loaded when Quintin De Cuba and Mark-Jan Moorman singled and Vince Rooi walked.
A following walk for Kevin Dirksen accounted for the first run, then a wild pitch tied the score.
Yntema followed with a strikeout, but then gave up a 2-run single to Max Draijer, who moved on a single by Daniel Fernandes.
Dirk van 't Klooster added another single to give Pioniers a 5-2 lead and a walk for Danny Rombley loaded the bases.
That was all for Yntema, who was relieved by Berry van Driel, but he couldn't stop Pioniers either.
Van Driel was greeted with a runscoring single by Quintin De Cuba, followed by a sacrifice fly by Mark-Jan Moorman.
He then re-loaded the bases by hitting Vince Rooi with a pitch and then gave up a baseclearing, 3-run triple to Kevin Dirksen that increased the lead to 10-2.
After he walked next hitter Taylor Clemensia, Van Driel was relieved by Jorian van Acker, but the scoring still wasn't done yet.
Van Acker gave up back-to-back doubles to Max Draijer (2-run) and Daniel Fernandes (1-run) that made it 13-2, before the inning finally ended when Dirk van 't Klooster grounded out.
The 13-run rally lasted 48 minutes!
Pioniers added four runs with two outs in the sixth inning off of new pitcher Floris Timmer, thanks to a single by Max Draijer, a basesloaded walk for Danny Rombley and a 2-run single by Quintin De Cuba.
In the seventh, Pioniers increased its lead to 19-2 by scoring two more runs.
After Vince Rooi, Kevin Dirksen and Taylor Clemensia all singled to load the bases, Max Draijer grounded into a double play.
With that, he accounted for his sixth run, but of course isn't credited with an RBI, since it was scored on a double play.
A wild pitch led to the 19th run scored by Pioniers.
Ricardo Hernandez Sanchez recovered very well after the first two innings.
In the remainder of the game, he allowed only two more batters to reach base.
One on a walk, the other on a single, but both didn't got beyond first base.
