 UVV decides game vs. DSS in eighth inning

The game between UVV and DSS was tied at 2-2 in the seventh inning on Thursday-evening (May 2), but then the home team scored twice.
An error on a sacrifice bunt resulted in the two runs UVV needed to win 4-2.
UVV used five pitchers in tonight's game.
Starter Timo van AncumM went six-plus innings.
But from the seventh inning on, four other pitchers were inserted, who all are regular starting pitchers.
Two of them almost surely will start on Saturday and Sunday, but the starters for those games have not yet been announced.

DSS opened the score with one run in the first inning.
With one out, Sven Jongejans, Tino van Erk and Levine Gabriëls all singled to load the bases.
A sac-fly by Mitchell Koot then made it 1-0, but the Haarlem-squad left two runners behind as a strikeout ended the inning.
DSS doubled its lead in the third inning.
Mark Smit led off with a walk, then stole second base and moved to third base on a sac-bunt by Sven Jongejans.
An error on a grounder by Tino van Erk then made it 2-0.
In the remainder of the game, DSS added only four more basehits.
In the fifth, Lex Leijenaar and Tommy van der Sanden led off with singles.
But then, the latter was picked off on first base and a line drive by Mark Smit ended in a double play.
In the seventh inning, Seb Visser walked with one out and Joffrey Heus singled, which brought in Kevin Noordzij, who completed the inning.
In the eighth, Mark Smit led off with a single and advanced on a sac-bunt by Sven Jongejans.
Hereafter, lefthanded Venezuelan Claudio Bavera was brought in to face lefthanded hitting Tino van Erk, who grounded out.
Jurjen van Zijl then became the next pitcher for UVV.
He began with a walk, but ended with a force play-grounder, then became the winning pitcher, as UVV scored two runs moments later.
In the seventh inning, rookie Mike Groen had taken over the pitching for DSS and he ran into problems in the eighth.
Omar Williams led off with a single, then his pinch-runner Jordan Illis advanced to third base when Norbert Jongerius also singled.
With one out, Groen committed a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt by Brennan Nijhof, which enabled both runners to score to give UVV a 4-2 lead.
In the ninth inning, Jim Ploeger became the fifth (starting) pitcher for UVV in this game.
He also made a throwing error on a 2-out grounder by pinch-hitter Koen Halderman.
Another error followed on a grounder by Tommy van der Sanden, but then Ploeger fielded a comeback-grounder by Mark Smit to end the game.
