Baseball docu on International Sports Film Festival Amsterdam
Nederlands
AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - On April 17-19, the first International Sports Film Festival will be organized in Amsterdam.

Amongst the 17 sports movies and documentaries to be shown is one baseball-documentary.
'Brothers in Exile' tells the story of Cuban brothers Liván and Orlando Hernández. The two were successful players in Cuba, but decided to travel to the USA in order to play in the Major League.

This 2014 documentary beautifully shows the frustrations, sacrifices and emotions the two brothers encountered when they left everything behind to follow their dream to play in the Major League. The two brothers, both pitchers, succeeded in accomplishing that.

Liván played 17 seasons (1997-2012) in the Major League for nine different clubs. He played the most of his seasons (seven) for the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals (2003-2006; 2009-2011).

Orlando ('El Duque') played nine seasons (1998-2002; 2004-2007) in the Majors. He played for four clubs, including six with the New York Yankees.

The documentary lasts 78 minutes and is made by Mario Diaz.

The film will be shown on Saturday, April 18, starting at 7:15 PM. All films and documentaries will be shown in Cinema Ketelhuis, which is located at the Pazzanistraat in Amsterdam.

The weekend of the International Sports Film Festival is the start of the National Sports Week, which is organized by the Netherlands Olympic Committee.
