Kinheim again turns early deficit into victory
Nederlands
HAARLEM (Neth.) - Corendon Kinheim trailed 2-0 after three innings vs. DSS on Sunday (June 14), then scored three runs in the fourth to win 3-2.

Singles by Mervin Gario, Phil Ortez and Dashenko Ricardo gave Kinheim the win.

(June 14)

DSS and Kinheim both scored their runs in only one ining, but Kinheim scored one more and that proved to be decisive.

DSS opened the score with two runs in the first at bat off of starter Glenn Wassink, but both were unearned. Mark Smit led off with a walk, then scored all the way from first base when a throwing error followed on a grounder by Sven Jongejans, who ended up on second base. Jongejans then advanced to third base on a grounder by Mitchell Koot. Hereafter, Ryan Miner was hit by a pitch and Tino van Erk followed with a runscoring grounder to make it 2-0.

Tim Halderman started for DSS and held Kinheim scoreless in the first three innings. The righthander gave up an one-out single to Mervin Gario in the first inning, but then retired the next seven batters in a row.

In the fourth, Kinheim rallied for three runs to take the lead. Kevin Moesquit led off with a triple and scored on a following single by Mervin Gario. A sacrifice bunt by Bryan Engelhardt brought him to second base, then Gario scored the tying run on a single by Phil Ortez. A following single by Dashenko Ricardo then enabled Ortez to score, giving Kinheim a 3-2 lead.

And that was it what the scoring is concerned in this game.

After scoring in the first inning, DSS did reach the bases in the following innings, but the Kinheim-defense turned three double plays, including one on a bunt. On Saturday, Kinheim turned three double plays. Kinheim leads the league with 36 double plays.

Pim Walsma took over the pitching for Kinheim in the eighth inning and retired the side. Closer Arshwin Asjes did the same in the ninth to earn his third save.
