AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
The opening game of the make-up series between L&D Amsterdam Pirates and HCAW, which was to be played on Thursday-evening (October 1), was cancelled due to rain and field-conditions.
The game has been re-scheduled for Friday-evening.
And so, the remainder of the already shortened 2020 season continues to be disturbed by either weather conditions or postponements due to cases of the coronavirus.
The Pirates vs. HCAW series was originally scheduled to be played on September 17, 19 and 20.
The series was postponed due to three positive cases in the team of Pirates.
The games were re-rescheduled for tonight and coming weekend.
Initially, tonight was to be the opening night of the best-of-seven Holland Series.
The start of the Championship Final was moved to October 10 in order to complete the Top-4 Pool.
Today was another rainy day and in the afternoon, the opener of the 3-game series was cancelled.
Last Monday, HCAW completed an earlier halted game against Curaçao Neptunus.
That game was halted last Thursday when a foul ball destroyed a lamp.
The remainder then rained out on Friday-evening.
On Saturday, the second game between the two teams rained out and was re-scheduled for last Tuesday.
On that day, the game was halted by rain in the top of the fourth with HCAW leading 1-0.
The remainder was re-scheduled for yesterday-evening (Wednesday), but was scrubbed after HCAW filed a complaint against the re-scheduling.
