There was a lot of traffic on the basepaths today in Amersfoort.
Storks got 21 baserunners, Quick got 27.
Both teams got their first runners in scoring position in the first inning.
For Storks, Joel Hernandez led off with a single, moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Jurriaan Dijk, but was left behind.
For Quick, Denzel Brooks led off with a walk, stole second base, moved to third base on a flyout, but also stranded.
Both starting pitchers had a fine second inning.
Quick-starter Wendell Floranus struckout three batters.
The righthander also walked one, but he stranded on first base.
Storks-starter Jayden Gonesh almost did the same.
He struckout two batters and also walked one, who then was left behind on first base.
Storks then rallied for seven runs in the top of the third inning off Floranus on four basehits.
Two errors led to four unearned runs.
Jurian Hansen led off with a single and stole both second and third base.
Next batter, Joel Hernandez walked and the first run was scored on a following single by Jurriaan Dijk.
With one out, Ibrahin Redan delivered a 2-run triple.
After a walk for Giovanny Perez, the next run was scored when an error was made on a grounder by Sergio Schoop.
Hereafter, Wendell Floranus struckout his fifth batter, but then got the bases loaded when he walked Kelvin Knape.
All three runners scored when Jurian Hansen hit a double, which also led to a pitching change.
Gilian Wernet took over, but made a throwing error during a pick-off at second base.
Hansen then stranded on third base, when Wernet caught the ball hit by Joel Hernandez.
Storks added three more runs in the fourth inning.
Jurriaan Dijk led off with a walk and Ibrahin Redan doubled with one out.
The two then respectively scored on a grounder by Giovanny Perez and a wild pitch.
With two outs, Sergio Schoop walked and stole second base, then Joost van den Bergh also walked.
Moments later, Schoop was taking some distance from second base.
Pitcher Gilian Wernet then threw the ball towards second base, but it ended up in centerfield.
Schoop took off and scored just before Van den Bergh was eliminated at second base.
But Storks now led 10-0.
However, it was less comfortable than thought.
Quick started to come back in the bottom of the fourth inning by scoring four runs.
Bryan Engelhardt led off with a homerun off of Jayden Gonesh, who then got the bases loaded via a walk for Tijmen Takke, a single by Taylor Clemensia and a walk for Jules Cremer.
With one out, a run was scored on a sacrifice fly by Emeron Lourens, then Denzel Brooks and Jordy Burger followed with runscoring singles.

Gonesh walked Bryan Engelhardt and Tijmen Takke.
A pitching change followed, as William Sowers took over, but his stay on the mound was briefly.
He first got a flyout, but then gave up a runscoring double to Jules Cremer.
Hereafter, another pitching change was made and Diornick Sanchez took over.
He was greeted with a runscoring single by Alberto Enrique Ostos, then saw another run being scored on a force play-grounder by Emeron Lourens.
In the top of the sixth, Storks took some distance by scoring three runs.
Jurriaan Dijk led off with a single and scored on a following triple by Luuk Visser.
He then scored on a single by Ibrahin Redan, who only missed the homerun to hit for-the-cycle.
Jasper Popken was brought in to take over the pitching for Quick.
He was supported with a double play, then next batter Sergio Schoop reached on an error.
Schoop stole second base and scored on a pinch-hit single by Brian van der Vlist, which made it a 13-7 score.
Jan-Willem Geerts became Quick's fourth pitcher in the eighth inning.
He retired the side in the seventh and eighth inning.
Quick scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh when the Storks-defense made two errors.
Lead-off hitter Taylor Clemensia reached on an error, then Jules Cremer hit a ground-rule double.
Rookie John Michael Halley then took over the Storks-pitching to make his big league-debut.
Hereafter, Clemensia scored on a sacrifice fly by Alberto Enrique Ostos.
With two outs, an error was made on a fielder's choice-grounder by Denzel Brooks.
Next batter Jordy Burger delivered a runscoring single.
On this hit, Brooks tried to advance to third base, but was eliminated there, which ended the at bat.
In the top of the ninth, Storks scored what would be the decisive run.
Sergio Schoop led off with a triple and scored on a grounder by Brian van der Vlist.
Now trailing 14-9, the suspense rose in the bottom of the ninth with Quick almost winning after all.
The Storks-defense made three errors, resulting in four unearned runs.
Taylor Clemensia led off with a single, then Jules Cremer walked.
The latter was forced out on a grounder by pinch-hitter Rowan van Hoek, but an error followed and Clemensia scored.
Another error was then made on a force play-grounder by pinch-hitter Amir Laclé, who made his debut, and the bases got loaded when Denzel Brooks walked.
The next run was then scored when reliever John Michael Halley made a throwing error on a comeback-grounder by Jordy Burger, which kept the bases loaded with only one out.
Two more runs were added when Rachid Engelhardt delivered a single, which made it a 14-13 score.
With runners on first and second base and only one out, Quick now had a chance to win or to force extra innings.
The second out was recorded when Bryan Engelhardt fouled out to the catcher, but the bases got loaded when Tijmen Takke singled.
That brought Taylor Clemensia to the plate again for his second at bat in this inning.
He hit the ball in the air, but it was caught by short stop Giovanny Perez and that ended the game, giving Storks its first win of the season.
