In the first five innings, the game was well-balanced, as both starting pitchers Stefan Iannelli (Twins Oosterhout) and Naut Kragt (Amsterdam Pirates) did well.
In the end, Iannelli did better, as he threw eight solid innings, while Kragt gave up five hits and three runs in five-plus innings.
Amsterdam Pirates reached base in seven innings and got into scoring position several times.
But the Twins-defense avoided giving up runs and turned three double plays.
Twins turned its first double play to close the top of the first inning after Roelie Henrique had led off the game with a walk.
In the second inning, Kalian Sams led off for Pirates with a double and Rashid Gerard walked with two outs, but both were left behind.
Twins was retired in order in its first at bat off of Naut Kragt, but then opened the score in the second.
Shurman Marlin led off with a single, then Ruendrick Piternella lined out.
Junior Martina followed with a double and with two outs, Max Kops delivered a runscoring single.
Amsterdam got into scoring position again in the third when Raydley Legito led off with a single.
He stole second base with two outs, but also was left behind.
Twins also stranded a runner in scoring position in its third at bat.
With two outs, Jason Halman doubled, but a grounder ended the inning.
In the top of the fifth, Raydley Legito again got into scoring position and this time advanced to third base.
With two outs, he singled, then stole second base and reached third when a throwing error followed.
Again, he was left behind.
The reigning champion got another chance to erase the 1-0 deficit in the top of the sixth.
Delano Selassa led off with a single, but was forced out.
After next batter Kalian Sams walked, Twins turned its second double play.
Twins was retired in order in the fourth and fifth inning, but then took some more distance in the bottom of the sixth by scoring two runs with two outs.

Hereafter, with one out, Tyriq Kemp singled and Rayshelon Carolina walked, but they were left behind.
With his basehit, Kemp extended his hitting streak to six games.
Leading 4-0, Twins decided the game with a 5-run rally in the eighth inning off of reliever Matz Schutte.
With one out, the righthander got the bases loaded when Junior Martina doubled, Jerzy van Gool singled and Max Kops walked.
Mick Vos followed with a runscoring single, then Tyriq Kemp contributed with a baseclearing, 3-run triple.
Moments later, Kemp scored on a sacrifice fly by Rayshelon Carolina.
In the top of the ninth, Raf Cocu took over the pitching for Stefan Iannelli, who had thrown a good game.
Cocu walked lead-off hitter Denzel Richardson, then gave up an one-out single to Kenny Berkenbosch.
A flyout and groundout ended the game.
