Amsterdam Pirates took an early lead, scoring twice in the first inning, but led only 3-2 halfway the sixth inning.
After adding a run in the bottom of the sixth, the home-team secured the win with a 6-run rally in the seventh.
In the bottom of the first inning, off of Quick Amersfoort-starter Brian van Laar, Amsterdam Pirates got six baserunners, but recorded only two basehits.
Van Laar walked four batters.
The lefthander walked lead-off hitter Gilmer Lampe, then got the bases loaded when he also walked next batters Sharlon Schoop and Denzel Richardson.
Schoop played in his first game of the season after rejoining the team again earlier in the week.
With the bases loaded, next batter Kalian Sams got to a 3-1 count, but then lined into a double play.
Short stop Denzel Brooks caught the ball and doubled up Schoop at second base.
Now with two outs, the bases were re-loaded again when Kenny Berkenbosch also walked.
Delano Selassa followed with a 2-run single that opened the score.
Rashid Gerard added another single that loaded the bases for the third time.
Another run appeared to be in the making, as next batter Niels van Weert got to a full count, but he then hit an inning-ending grounder.
Pirates added another run in the second inning off of Jan-Willem Geerts, who took over the pitching for Quick.
He began by striking out Roelie Henrique, which was to be the lone strikeout for the Quick-pitching in this game.
But hereafter, Geerts walked Gilmer Lampe and Sharlon Schoop.
Moments later, Schoop was forced out on a possible double play-grounder by Denzel Richardson.
Lampe advanced to third base, but then first baseman Tijmen Takke (after Richardson had reached first base) made a throwing error towards third base.
That enabled Lampe to score.
Hereafter, it was third baseman Emeron Lourens, who made the next throwing error, which moved Richardson to second base.
But he stranded there.
Quick Amersfoort got one run back in the top of the third inning off of starter Jim Ploeger (just married), who got the bases loaded quickly.
With two outs in the first inning, he gave up a triple to Rachid Engelhardt, but then closed by striking out Bryan Engelhardt.
Ploeger retired the side in the second inning, but in the third, the lefthander gave up a lead-off single to Alberto Enrique Ostos (who moved on a wild pitch), then walked Emeron Lourens.
The two runners advanced on another wild pitch and the bases got loaded when Denzel Brooks also walked.
With one out, Rachid Engelhardt batted in a run with a single, but three runners were left behind, as Ploeger struckout the next two batters.
In the third and fourth inning, both the pitching and defense of Quick recovered.
The team turned another double play in the third inning, then got only one baserunner in the fourth.
In the top of the fourth, the Pirates-defense also turned a double play.
After Quick was retired in order in the top of the fifth, Amsterdam Pirates got the bases loaded again in the bottom of the fifth.
But they were left behind.
In the sixth inning, both teams scored.
In the top of the sixth, Bryan Engelhardt led off for Quick with a double, moved on a single by Tijmen Takke, then scored on a single by Taylor Clemensia.
That narrowed the deficit to 3-2 and also led to a piching change.
Shairon Martis took over and retired the next two batters.
But he then got the bases loaded when he walked Emeron Lourens.
This time, it was Quick that stranded three runners again, as the at bat ended with a pop-fly.
In the bottom of the sixth, Pirates reacted with a run off of new pitcher Gilian Wernet.
With one out, Sharlon Schoop doubled and Denzel Richardson walked.
Kalian Sams followed with an RBI-single, but this time runners were left behind on second and third base.
For Quick Amersfoort, the scoring stopped after the sixth inning.
Pirates secured the win with a 6-run rally with two outs in the seventh inning.
Lead-off hitter Rashid Gerard reached on an error, but then the Quick-defense made its third double play on a grounder by Niels van Weert.
Hereafter, the bases got loaded when Wernet walked Roelie Henrique and Gilmer Lampe, then hit Sharlon Schoop with a pitch.
Hereafter, three consecutive runscoring doubles followed.
First, Denzel Richardson connected for a baseclearing, 3-run double, then Kalian Sams and Kenny Berkbosch followed with back-to-back RBI-doubles.
Wernet was relieved by Amar van Zwieten, who made his first appearance of the season.
He was greeted with a runscoring single by Delano Selassa, then also gave up a single to Rashid Gerard and got the bases loaded when he walked pinch-hitter Raydley Legito.
The team needed only two additional runs to end the game via the 10-run difference mercy-rule.
But for the third time, Pirates left three runners behind, as a grounder ended the at bat.
No runs were added in the remainder of the game.
