But he then struckout Jules Cremer and a grounder ended the inning, meaing the three runners were left behind.
In the bottom of the third, Pirates came alongside.
Roelie Henrique led off with a single, stole second base and reached third on a wild pitch.
After next batter Sharlon Schoop walked, Gilmer Lampe delivered a runscoring single.
With one out, Schoop scored the tying run on a single by Kenny Berkenbosch.
The inning ended when Delano Selassa grounded into a double play, but it had become a new ball game.
From the fourth inning on, the game turned around in favor of Amsterdam Pirates.
With one out in the top of the fourth, Denzel Brooks doubled for Quick.

New pitcher Gilian Wernet got the bases loaded quickly, as he hit lead-off hitter Rashid Gerard, then walked Niels van Weert and Jair van Borkulo.
Wernet then also issued a runscoring walk to Roelie Henrique and was relieved by rookie Stijn Bruins Slot.
He saw an error being made on a possible double play-grounder by Sharlon Schoop, which led to two more runs.
With one out, a single by Denzel Richardson lifted the lead to 15-3.
