The first three innings of tonight's game remained scoreless.
DSS/Kinheim then rallied in the fourth inning, Storks took over the lead in the next two at bats, but the home-team regained the lead again.
This time to keep.
DSS/Kinheim-starter Jelle Bing faced only nine batters in the first three innings, but also got two baserunners.
In the first inning, he walked lead-off hitter Joel Hernandez.
He moved on a sacrifice bunt, but then was eliminated in a double play.
Luuk Visser flied out to rightfielder Nick Hofer, who then got the ball in time on second base.
The second also ended with a double play.
Lead-off hitter Ibrahin Redan reached on an error.
Bing then struckout Brian van der Vlist and Sergio Schoop.
While Schoop struckout, Redan took off to steal second base.
However, he was then called out, as Schoop interfered with catcher Aidan Finnegan.
Bing retired the side in the third inning, then got three baserunners in the fourth.
The righthander walked lead-off hitter Joel Hernandez, who was caught stealing moments later.
Next batter Stephen Henson also walked, then Luuk Visser reached on an error.
Hereafter, Henson was caught stealing at third base and Visser stranded on first base.
The Storks-defense also turned a double play in the first three innings.
In the first inning, Thomas Bos led off for DSS/Kinheim with a single off of starter Twan Naessens, then Jeldwin Orman singled with one out, but both were left behind.
The team was retired in order in the second inning.
In the third, Bram Blokker led off with a walk, but was eliminated in a double play.
DSS/Kinheim then rallied for four runs with two outs in the fourth.
With one out, Kevin Nieveld walked.
With two outs, he moved on a passed ball, then the bases got loaded when Donny Kuijper also walked and Nick Hofer singled.
The first run was scored when Naessens threw a wild pitch and the bases were re-loaded when next batter Shaquille Zijlstra also walked.
Zijlstra made his debut tonight, filling in at first base for injured Tino van Erk (hamstring).
Zijlstra is the son the team's 1B Coach Dave Zijlstra and the grandson of former big league- and Netherlands Team-pitcher Ruud Zijlstra.
With the bases loaded, Bram Blokker drilled the ball down the leftfield-line for a baseclearing 3-run double.
He advanced to third base on the throw, but was left behind.
Storks answered with two runs in the top of the fifth.
With one out, Sergio Schoop walked, stole second base and scored on a following single by Jurriaan Dijk.
Hereafter, Kelvin Knape walked.
A week ago, he left the opening game against Hoofddorp Pioniers after being hit in his face by a bad-hop infield-hit.
He got time to recover, as the next two games against Pioniers were postponed.
Tonight, Knape was back in the line-up.
With two outs, Joel Hernandez singled to bring in Dijk and cut the deficit in half.
Knape stranded on third base.
In the sixth, with DSS/Kinheim leading 4-2, Storks scored three unearned runs off of new pitcher Moreno Vork to take a 5-4 lead.
Vork walked Luuk Visser and Ibrahin Redan.
With one out, both advanced on a passed ball.
With two outs, the two runners scored when an error was made on a grounder by Jurriaan Dijk and that tied the score at 4-4.
Kelvin Knape followed with a single, which led to a pitching change.
Steven van Groningen (the announced starter for Sunday's game) took the mound for DSS/Kinheim, but was greeted with a runscoring single by Jurian Hansen that gave Storks a 5-4 lead.
DSS/Kinheim reacted immediately and also scored three unearned runs in its sixth at bat.
Nick Winkel, who is not in the starting rotation in this series, had taken over the pitching for Storks in the fifth inning and then retired the side.
But in the sixth, he walked Aidan Finnegan and Donny Kuijper, then made a throwing error towards third base on a bunt by next batter Nick Hofer.
That enabled Finnegan to score the tying run and gave DSS/Kinheim runners on first and second base.
Winkel was relieved by John Michael Halley, but the same situation was repeated moments later.
Shaquille Zijlstra bunted back to Halley, who then also made a throwing error towards third base.
This time, no run was scored, but it loaded the bases.
With one out, Thomas Bos walked and that enabled Wesley van Hemert (the pinch-runner for Kuijper) to score the go-ahead run.
Hereafter, Hofer scored the next run on a force play-grounder by Jochem Koedijk.
In the final three innings of the game, Storks was unable to do something back, as the team got only one more baserunner.
After being retired in order in the seventh, Sergio Schoop singled with one out in the eighth.
He was then eliminated in DSS/Kinheim's third double play of the game.
DSS/Kinheim got into scoring position in both the seventh and eighth inning, but also didn't add more runs.
In the top of the ninth, Robyn Clara closed for DSS/Kinheim, retired the side and earned a save.
