In today's game, both starting pitchers retired the side in the first inning, Juan Carlos Sulbaran for Amsterdam Pirates, Chris Pfau for Hoofddorp Pioniers.
After Sulbaran also had retired the side in the top of the second inning, Pirates opened the score moments later in its second at bat off of Pfau.
Kalian Sams led off with a homerun, which was his fifth of the season.
Next batter Denzel Richardson singled, then scored when an outfield-error followed a double by Kenny Berkenbosch.
The latter moved to third base on the errot, then scored the third run in the inning on a wild pitch.
In the third inning Sulbaran struckout three batters.
Also in that at bat, after having retired the first eight batters in a row, the righthander gave up a 2-out single to Duco Nuijten.
He advanced two bases on a wild pitch, but then was left behind.
Trailing 3-0, Pioniers got one run back in the fourth.
With one out, Max Draijer walked and Victor Draijer singled.
The first advanced on a flyout, then scored when a strikeout for Joey Eeman ended in a wild pitch.
Sulbaran had another one-two-three inning in the fifth, including his ninth strikeout.
In the sixth, he gave up a 2-out single to Victor Draijer, but he was forced out.
After scoring its three runs in the second inning, Pirates was retired in order in the third.
The team then got some baserunners in the next two innings, but didn't score.

He was replaced by pinch-runner Delano Selassa, who then was forced out on a bunt by Max Clarijs, who stranded on first base himself.
In the bottom of the sixth, Amsterdam Pirates took some more distance by scoring two runs.
Gilmer Lampe led off with a single and Denzel Richardson walked with one out.
After the two executed a double steal, both scored on a single by Kenny Berkenbosch.
A pitching change followed, as Sander Helmendach relieved Chris Pfau.
He gave up a single to Rashid Gerard, but was forced out on a grounder by Delano Selassa.
Next, the bases got loaded when Max Clarijs walked, but the three runners were left behind when Roelie Henrique flied out.

Joey Eeman led off with a walk, moved on a wild pitch and advanced to third base on a single by Nolan Beugeling.
Moments later, Eeman scored on a double play-grounder by Jorrit Penseel.
That also ended the afternoon on the mound for Juan Carlos Sulbaran.

In the bottom of the seventh, Pirates immediately answered with two runs of its own.
A bunt by lead-off hitter Sharlon Schoop ended in an error.
With one out, pitcher Sander Helmendach hit the next three batters in a row with a pitch.
Something that probably never had happened before in Dutch baseball-history.
After Schoop had stolen second base, the bases got loaded when Kalian Sams and Denzel Richardson were hit by a pitch.
Schoop then scored when Kenny Berkenbosch was the third consecutive batter that was hit by a pitch.
That also led to a pitching change, as Nathan Diaby took over from Helmendach.
He began with a walk for Rashis Gerard, which produced the next run.
However, three runners were then left behind when Delano Selassa grounded into a double play.
Last season, three batters of Pioniers were hit by a pitch in the same inning in a game against Storks, but not in a row and not by the same pitcher.
Sem Lauf hit two consecutive hitters with a pitch and later in the inning, reliever Martin Kram also hit a batter.
After last season, Lauf transfered to Pioniers, but he is currently injured and hasn't thrown yet in the regular season.

With that, Pirates again left three runners behind.
Pioniers scored one more run in the ninth inning off of Tom de Blok.
He had taken over the pitching from Martis in the eighth inning to make his first appearance of the season after having been sidelined with a minor injury.
De Blok was supported with a double play in the eighth inning.
But the righthander got four baserunners in the ninth.
With one out, De Blok walked pinch-hitter Nathan Berkel, who then stole second base.
With two outs, Duco Nuijten singled and moved to second base on fielder's indifference.
Next batter Mark Smit singled to bring in Berkel and make it a 9-4 score.
Hereafter, Pioniers got the bases loaded when Bodhi de Vreede walked, but the three runners were left behind when a grounder ended the inning and the game.
