It was DSS/Kinheim that opened the score in the first inning, but the game turned in favor of Storks from the fourth inning on.
The team from The Hague then took over the lead, held the opponent scoreless and added three more runs in the seventh.
DSS/Kinheim-starter Steven van Groningen retired the side in the top of the first inning.
In his first inning, Storks-starter Jayden Gonesh gave up a run.
With one out, the righthander walked Jochem Koedijk and Jeldwin Orman.
Hereafter, Kevin Nieveld followed with a double that brought in Koedijk.
After Nieveld had slid into second, where nothing strange happened, suddenly a discussion followed between Storks short stop Stephen Henson and 3B Umpire Roy van de Wateringen.
Storks Head Coach Eugene Henson came out of the dug-out and took over the discussion.
When Henson returned to the dug-out, he took his son with him and took him out of the game.
Henson jr. was replaced by Brian Raap, who played in his first game for the team.
Last year, Raap played for DSS and thus he faced some of his former teammates today.
When Raap was inserted, some of the infield-positions changed.
Raap became the new third baseman, while third baseman Jurian Hansen moved to second base.
There, he took over from Kelvin Knape, who became the new short stop.
When the game resumed, Gonesh struckout the next two batters to end the inning.
In the next five innings, Jayden Gonesh threw very well.
The righthander retired the side in the second and fourth inning.
In the third, he gave up a lead-off single to Thomas Bos, but a double play followed.
Storks left a runner on second base in the second inning off of Steven van Groningen, then scored twice in the fourth.
In his first at bat in the game and in the season, Brian Raap singled, as did next batter Luuk Visser.
The latter was forced out on a grounder by Ibrahin Redan, then Jurriaan Dijk followed with a runscoring single that tied the score.
Hereafter, Joost van den Bergh also delivered a runscoring single that put Storks ahead, 2-1.
In the fifth and sixth inning, now trailing 2-1, DSS/Kinheim got into scoring position, but was held scoreless by Jayden Gonesh.
With one out in the fifth, Nick Hofer and Bram Blokker walked.
With two outs, the bases got loaded on an infield-hit by Jochem Koedijk.
However, the inning ended when Koedijk was forced out.
In the sixth, lead-off hitter Kevin Nieveld was hit by a pitch.
He moved to third base on two grounders, then Gonesh closed with his ninth strikeout.
In the top of the seventh inning, Storks took more distance by scoring three runs.
New pitcher Moreno Vork walked Joost van den Bergh and Jurnest Virginie, who advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kelvin Knape.
Next batter Jurian Hansen delivered a runscoring single, which led to a pitching change, as Rick Timmermans took over.
He saw Hansen steal second base and when that was followed by a throwing error, Virginie scored.
Timmermans began with a strikeout, but then gave up a runscoring single to Brian Raap, which made it a 5-1 score.
But the lead was far from comfortable, as DSS/Kinheim also scored three runs in its seventh at bat.
With Storks leading 5-1, American righthander William Sowers took over the pitching for the team from The Hague, but ran into problems.
With one out, he gave up a double to Bram Blokker, who then scored on a following single by Thomas Bos.
After Sowers walked next batter Jochem Koedijk, John Michael Halley became the new pitcher for Storks.
He began with a wild pitch that moved the two runners, then Bos and Koedijk respectively scored on a single by Jeldwin Orman and an error on a grounder by Kevin Nieveld.
The inning ended with a double play, but DSS/Kinheim had narrowed the deficit to 5-4.
In the top of the eighth, Storks added an insurance run, which proved to be decisive.
New pitcher Bas Timmer gave up a lead-off single to Ibrahin Redan.
With one out, he moved to third base on a single by Joost van den Bergh and a grounder.
Moments later, Redan scored on a passed ball, which made it a 6-4 score.
In the ninth, Storks got into scoring position again off of Robyn Clara.
With two outs, Brian Raap connected for his third single, then Luuk Visser also singled, but Clara closed with a strikeout.
Storks-closer John Michael Halley retired the side in the eighth.
In this at bat, Marcel Tolenaars was inserted as pinch-hitter for DSS/Kinheim to make his big league-debut.
Tolenaars got injured shortly before the start of the season, but now has recovered.
Tolenaars is the grandson of former umpire Jos Loogman and the nephew of former player John Loogman, who played in the big league for Hoofddorp Pioniers.
In the ninth, Halley gave up an unearned run.
Bram Blokker led off with a walk, then moved to third base when Jochem Koedijk reached on an error with one out.
Blokker then scored on a force play-grounder by Jeldwin Orman.
But hereafter, Halley closed with his fourth strikeout to earn his third save of the season.
