DSS/Kinheim was unable to score tonight, but Amsterdam Pirates was also held scoreless in its first four at bats.
Amsterdam-starter Rob Cordemans faced only six batters in the two innings he pitched in his 334th career game.
Cordemans struckout the first two batters, but then gave up a single to Jeldwin Orman.
However, his stay at first base was brief, as he was eliminated by Cordemans via a pick-off.
In the second inning, two grounders and flyout accounted for another quick DSS/Kinheim-at bat.
In the third inning, lefthander Nick Veltkamp relieved Cordemans and also retired the side (two strikeouts).
As Cordemans didn't threw the required five innings for a starter in a win-situation, he had a no-decision.
This means that his 200th career-win didn't come tonight.
DSS/Kinheim got its first runner in scoring position in the fourth inning.
Thomas Bos led off with a walk, moved on a sacrifice bunt by Jochem Koedijk, then stole third base with two outs.
But he was left behind, as Veltkamp closed with another strikeout.
With two outs in the top of the fifth, Nick Hofer doubled for DSS/Kinheim, then Bram Blokker walked.
They also were left behind.
Moments later, Amsterdam Pirates opened the score.
The home-team got its first scoring opportunity in the bottom of the second inning off of starter Steven van Groningen.
With one out, Pirates got the bases loaded.
Rashid Gerard then singled, Niels van Weert walked and Delano Selassa reached on an infield-hit.
But they all were left behind, as Van Groningen struckout Max Clarijs and Roelie Henrique.
Amsterdam Pirates got on base again in the next two innings.
With one out in the third, Denzel Richardson singled and Kalian Sams walked, but Kenny Berkenbosch then grounded into a double play.
In the fourth, Niels van Weert singled with one out.
This time, the inning ended when Delano Selassa grounded into a double play.
In the bottom of the fifth, Pirates opened the score.
Lead-off hitter Max Clarijs was hit by a pitch, then the bases got loaded when Roelie Henrique walked and Sharlon Schoop reached on a bunt-single.
Two pop-flies followed, the first was ruled an infield-fly, the second was a foul-fly.
But next batter Kenny Berkenbosch connected well, as he delivered a 2-run single.
Nick Veltkamp retired the side again in the top of the sixth.
In the seventh, he gave up a lead-off double to Aidan FInnegan, who advanced on an one-out single by Donny Kuijper.
With runners at the corners, Shairon Martis took over the Pirates-pitching.
Nick Hofer then reached first base when an error was made on his sacrifice bunt.
That moved Kuijper's pinch-runner Mitchel Dautzenberg to second base, but Finnegan stayed at third base.
With one out, DSS/Kinheim now had the bases loaded, but the inning ended with a double play.
Dautzenberg and Hofer were eliminated on a grounder by Bram Blokker to end the inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, Pirates scored two more runs off of new pitcher Rick Timmermans to double its lead.
Sharlon Schoop and Denzel Richardson led off with back-to-back doubles, which put runners on second and third base.
Moments later, Schoop scored on a grounder by Emilson Haswell and Richardson scored on a single by Kenny Berkenbosch.
Hereafter, Pirates got three more baserunners, but failed to add another run.
After the single by Berkenbosch, Rashid Gerard walked.
Next, Berkenbosch was forced out on a grounder by Niels van Weert.
The bases got loaded when Delano Selassa walked.
But all three stranded when a flyout ended the at bat.
In the next inning, Pirates got one more baserunner off of new pitcher Bas Timmer.
He gave up a lead-off single to Roelie Henrique, but he stranded on second base.
DSS/Kinheim was retired in order in its eighth and ninth inning by Shairon Martis.
Of the six batters he faced, the former Major Leaguer struckout four.
