In today's game, Neptunus took an early lead.
In several previous games, the team scored late and often had one productive inning to secure the win.
But today, Neptunus led 3-0 after three innings and from there, the score was expanded in the following at bats.
Neptunus got close to home plate in its first at bat, but was held scoreless.
Stijn van der Meer led off the first inning with a walk, but then was eliminated at first base on a successful pick-off by Quick-starter Colin van Laar.
After the lefthander had struckout next batter Benjamin Dille, he got two baserunners.
Dwayne Kemp reached on an error, then moved to third base on a single by Gianison Boekhoudt.
But the inning ended when Van Laar struckout Dudley Leonora.
Neptunus scored its first run in the second inning.
Quintin De Cuba led off with a double, moved on a grounder by Gregory Muller and scored on a single by Darryl Collins, who stranded on second base himself.
Two runs were added in the next at bat.
Benjamin Dille and Dwayne Kemp led off with singles, then moved on a grounder by Gianison Boekhoudt.
Next, Dille scored on a grounder by Dudley Leonora.
Quick's short stop Denzel Brooks threw the ball to catcher Alberto Ostos, but Dille slid in safely at the plate.
However, Kemp was then eliminated as he tried to advance to third base.
With two outs, Leonora stole second base, then scored on the second double in two innings by Quintin De Cuba.
Neptunus scored another run in the fourth inning on two more doubles.
Darryl Collins led off with a double and scored on an one-out double by Stijn van der Meer to lift the lead to 4-0.
Neptunus-starter Orlando Yntema got only three baserunners in the five innings he threw.
The righthander retired the side (two strikeouts) in the first inning, then walked Rowan van Hoek with one out in the second inning, but he stranded on first base.
Yntema retired the side again in the third and fourth inning.
Quick got into scoring position for the first time in the top of the fifth inning, when it also started to rain.
With one out, former Joran Berkhout walked and Emeron Lourens singled.
Berkhout, who started the season with Neptunus, then stole third base, but the two runners were left behind.
With the game now being offcial, a four minute rain-delay followed halfway the fifth inning.
When the game resumed, only three pitches were thrown by Colin van Laar to batter Gianison Boekhoudt.
The first two were outside the strikezone, the third ended in flyout.
That was followed by another interruption due to the rain.
This time longer, as the game was suspended for 25 minutes.
Thereafter, Dudley Leonora also flied out, but then Van Laar walked Quintin De Cuba and Gregory Muller.
That led to a pitching change, as rookie Stijn Bruins Slot took over.
He saw both runners advance on a passed ball, but a grounder ended the at bat, meaning the runners were left behind on second and third base.
Neptunus scored again in the sixth.
Coco Johnson led off with a walk, stole both second and third base, then scored on an one-out single by Benjamin Dille.
After the Quick-defense had made a double play in the seventh, Neptunus scored two more runs in the eighth to make it a 7-0 score.
The first run was scored when Darryl Collins and Coco Johnson opened with back-to-back doubles.
Johnson then moved to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a grounder by Stijn van der Meer.
Trailing 7-0, Quick scored its lone run in the top of the ninth.
That was done off of Aaron de Groot, who had taken over the Neptunus-pitching in the sixth inning.
Quick got into scoring position off of De Groot in the seventh and eighth inning.
In the seventh, Rowan van Hoek led off with a double.
Hereafter, De Groot retired the next three batters, two of them with a strikeout.
In the eighth, he walked lead-off batter Jules Cremer, who advanced on a passed ball, but was left behind on second base.
In the top of the ninth, Tijmen Takke led off for Quick with a single.
De Groot struckout the next two batters, but then gave up a double to Emeron Lourens.
When that was followed by an error, Takke was able to score.
Lourens moved to third base, but stranded there, as a flyout ended the game.
De Groot, who struckout seven batters in the four innings he threw, earned his first save of the season, while Yntema earned his league-leading fifth win.
