Like in the opener on Thursday, it was HCAW that opened the score, but it was Quick Amersfoort that then took the lead.
Again, HCAW came back late to turn the game around and leave the field victorious.
In the first five innings, HCAW faced the same pitcher as it had faced in its final at bat on Thursday.
Two days ago, Wendell Floranus closed the game for Quick Amersfoort.
He walked the lead-off batter, but then struckout the next three.
Today, Floranus was the starting pitcher for Quick.
In the third inning, the righthander gave up HCAW's first run.
Lead-off batter Leandro Anasagasti walked, moved on a sacrifice bunt by Berend Ruben and a grounder by Brennan Nijhof, then scored on a wild pitch.
In his next two innings, Floranus encountered no problems and was supported with a double play.
Floranus joined the team shortly before the start of the season.
The 25-year old Curaçao-born Floranus pitched professionally in the organization of the Baltimore Orioles in 2012-2015, all at the Rookie League-level.
In 2013-2016, Floranus pitched for the Netherlands National Team, appearing in six games.
In 2014, he was a member of the Orange-squad that captured the title at the European Championship in the Czech Republic.
He also pitched for the Netherlands during the Premier12 in 2015 in Taiwan.
Floranus left the mound after five innings and was replaced by Jhan Rifaela.
At that moment, Quick led 3-1.
His teammates scored twice in the third inning off of HCAW-starter Dennis Burgersdijk.
Alberto Enrique Ostos led off with a double and moved on a bunt-single by Jordy Burger.
Ostos then scored the tying run when next batter Denzel Brooks also singled.
Next, Burger scored during a double play.
With Burger on third base, Burgersdijk struckout Jules Cremer.
At that moment, Brooks attempted to steal second base, was caught stealing, but at the same time, Burger scored to give Quick a 2-1 lead.
In the fourth, Quick got the bases loaded.
Bryan Engelhardt led off with a double and Tijmen Takke singled.
Burgersdijk then struckout the next two batters, but walked Alberto Enrique Ostos, which loaded the bases.
However, three runners were left behind, as a force play ended the at bat.
But in the fifth, Quick Amersfoort added an unearned run.
With one out, Jules Cremer and Rachid Engelhardt singled.
Cremer advanced to third base, then scored when a throwing error followed.
That brought Engelhardt to third base, where he was left behind.
Quick took more distance by scoring twice in the sixth.
Runai Coran led off with a walk and with one out, Alberto Enrique Ostos singled.
The two respectively scored on a single by Jordy Burger and a sacrifice fly by Denzel Brooks.
That led to a pitching change, as Jasper Elfrink took over for Burgersdijk.
The rookie got the bases loaded, as Jules Cremer reached on an error and Rachid Engelhardt walked, but the three runners were left behind when a grounder ended the inning.
At that moment, Quick led 5-1, but was held scoreless in the remainder of the game.
HCAW then turned the game around in the final three innings.
HCAW first scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh.
Lead-off hitter Linoy Croes reached on an error, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a 2-out double by Berend Ruben.
HCAW then scored three more unearned runs in the eighth to come alongside.
With one out, Rodney Daal reached on an error.
He was forced out on a grounder by Kevin Dirksen, which would have been the third out.
Instead, there were two outs and Dirksen was the runner at first base.
Hereafter, Linoy Croes hit a single off of Jhan Rifaela.
Last season, the two were teammates and won the Championship-title playing for L&D Amsterdam Pirates.
With two runners on base, Arthur Bonevacia connected well and hit a 3-run homerun that tied the score at 5-5.
In the ninth inning, HCAW took the lead for the second time in the game.
Berend Ruben led off with a single, which was followed by a pitching change.
Jasper Popken took over and saw Ruben advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Jeandro Tromp and a grounder by Bob van der Meer.
With two outs, Ruben scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, which would result in the lone earned run for HCAW.
With HCAW now leading 6-5, Jasper Elfrink walked Quick's lead-off hitter Rachid Engelhardt in the bottom of the ninth.
Elfrink was relieved by Gio de Graauw, who got a force play-grounder.
A pop-fly accounted for the second out, then another force play ended the game.
With that, De Graauw earned a save, after having been credited with the win in Thursday's opener.
