Storks was held scoreless today, but the team came close to opening the score in the top of the first inning.
Twins-starter Pastor Enrique Martínez Chavez gave up a lead-off single to Kelvin Knape, who batted in the lead-off spot for the first time this season.
Catcher/outfielder Joel Hernandez was the regular lead-off hitter this season, but he didn't play today.
Instead, Lithuanian Kestas Vilimas was behind the plate for the team from The Hague.
After giving up the lead-off single, Martínez followed with a strikeout, but then gave up a single to Luuk Visser.
Hereafter, Knape moved to third base when Jurriaan Dijk flied out.
Visser also got into scoring position after successfully stealing second base.
But Martínez then closed with another strikeout.
Moments later, Twins Oosterhout opened the score by scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning off of Storks-starter Nick Winkel.
The righthander got the bases loaded when Tyriq Kemp led off with a single, Railison Bentura walked and Diamond Silberie reached on an infield-hit.
Shurman Marlin followed with a single that brought in Kemp and Bentura.
Silberie also tried to score, but he was thrown out at the plate.
Twins got the bases loaded again when Ruendrick Piternella walked and Jason Halman singled.
The inning ended when Mick Vos grounded into a double play.
Storks again got into scoring position in the top of the second inning.
Martínez began with a strikeout, then gave up singles to Kestas Vilimas and Jurnest Virginie, which gave the team runners at first and third base.
Martínez followed with his fourth and fifth strikeout.
Twins took more distance in its second at bat, which again ended with a double play.
Just as in the first inning, Twins got the bases loaded when Nick Winkel walked Nick Peels, Rayshelon Carolina and Tyriq Kemp.
The righthander then issued his fourth consecutive walk to Railison Bentura, which of course led to a run and kept the bases loaded.
After Winkel had struckout the next batter, he gave up a 2-run single to Shurman Marlin, which increased the lead to 5-0.
Next batter Ruendrick Piternella hit a line drive, but that was caught by short stop Kelvin Knape.
He then threw the ball to second baseman Jurriaan Dijk to eliminate Bentura and complete a double play, as the runner had left on the hit and was unable to return in time to the base.
Storks was retired in order in the third and fourth inning by Pastor Enrique Martínez Chavez.
The righthander walked two batters in the fifth, but they stranded on first and second base.
Nick Winkel also retired the side in the third, but then ran into problems in the fourth.
In this at bat, there were seven walks, five wild pitches and a passed ball.
Rayshelon Carolina led off with a walk.
He advanced to third base on a wild pitch, then scored when a throwing error followed.
Hereafter, it was Tyriq Kemp who walked.
He moved to third base thanks to two wild pitches.
In between these wild pitches, Winkel struckout a batter.
With Kemp on third base, the righthander gave up an RBI-single to Diamond Silberie.
The bases then got loaded when Shurman Marlin also singled and Ruendrick Piternella walked.
Another walk followed, this time for Jason Halman, which gave Twins another run and led to a pitching change.
Brian van der Vlist, who was the leftfielder, took over, but he began with a wild pitch and that enabled Marlin to score the next run.
Van der Vlist re-loaded the bases when he walked Mick Vos.
He then threw the fifth wild pitch in this inning and this time, Piternella scored.
The troubles weren't over yet for Storks, as Halman scored the next run on a passed ball.
With Vos now on third base, the bases got loaded again when Van der Vlist walked Nick Peels and Rayshelon Carolina (his second walk in this inning).
Van der Vlist then regained some of his control and struckout Tyriq Kemp.
The desastrous inning finally ended when Carolina was forced out on a grounder by Railison Bentura, who was the twelfth batter in this at bat.
Now trailing 11-0, Storks left another runner behind in scoring position in the top of the fifth, which also saw five changes in the Twins-defense.
Jurnest Virginie led off with a walk for Storks.
With one out, Kelvin Knape also walked, but the two runners were left behind.
Twins added another run in the bottom of the fifth.
Diamond Silberie led off with a walk, then scored on a following double from Shurman Marlin.
Hereafter, Marlin was awarded third base on a balk, but Brian van der Vlist then struckout the next three batters.
Almost the same happened in the top of the sixth inning.
Marvin Brown then took over the pitching for Twins.
He walked Jurriaan Dijk and Ibrahin Redan, but then also struckout three batters in a row.
Storks got its final baserunner in the top of the seventh when Simon Gross took the mound for Twins.
The German righthander hit lead-off hitter Roy Winkel, who today played in his first game of the season.
Winkel was eliminated when next batter Kelvin Knape grounded into an 1-6-3 double play.
Another pitching change followed.
Second baseman Tyriq Kemp took over the pitching, while two pitchers were inserted in defensive positions.
Gross took over Kemp's place as second baseman, while closer Raf Cocu became the new first baseman.
Kemp faced Brian van der Vlist, who was the starting leftfielder, but had taken over the Storks-pitching in the fourth.
In that at bat, Van der Vlist struckout Kemp.
And now, it was Kemp (the starting second baseman) who struckout Van der Vlist.
And that ended the game.
