Neptunus opened the score with two runs in the top of the first inning off of Nick Winkel, who threw all five innings tonight for Storks.
Neptunus then rallied for eight runs in the second at bat to take a commanding lead.
In the first inning, Stijn van der Meer led off for Neptunus with a walk and stole second base with one out.
The team then got runners at the corners when Dwayne Kemp singled.
When Kemp stole second base, a throwing error followed, which enabled Van der Meer to score.
Kemp ended up on third base.
Hereafter, Gianison Boekhoudt walked and Benjamin Dille followed with a runscoring single.
After Boekhoudt and Dille had advanced on a wild pitch, the bases got loaded with two outs when John Polonius was hit by a pitch.
The three runners were left behind when short stop Kelvin Knape caught a line drive hit by Gregory Muller.
In the second at bat, Neptunus got twelve batters and rallied for eight runs on seven basehits.
Coco Johnson led off with a walk, then stole second base.
Next batter Stijn van der Meer also walked and a double-steal led to runners on second and third base.
The two scored when Shaldimar Daantji and Dwayne Kemp both singled.
Gianison Boekhoudt and Benjamin Dille then also delivered runscoring singles to bring in Daantji and Kemp.
Hereafter, Nick Winkel struckout Quintin De Cuba for the first out, but then got the bases loaded when he gave up a single to John Polonius.
Another RBI-single followed, this time hit by Gregory Muller to increase the led to 7-0.
With the bases still loaded, Coco Johnson again walked in his second at bat in this inning to bring in another run.
The scoring wasn't over yet, as next batter Stijn van der Meer connected for a 2-run single.
Van der Meer tried to stretch his hit into a double, but was eliminated at second base.
A flyout ended the inning, but Neptunus now led 10-0.
Storks-pitcher Nick Winkel recovered and threw three fine innings after having given up ten runs in the first two at bats.
Diegomar Markwell started for Neptunus, but needed a lot of pitches.
The veteran lefthander got six baserunners in the two innings he threw tonight.
With Neptunus leading 2-0, Markwell walked Jurriaan Dijk with one out in the bottom of the first inning, then gave up a single to Luuk Visser.
The two moved to second and third base on a grounder, but Markwell then closed by striking out Joost van den Bergh.
After Neptunus had rallied for eight runs in the top of the second inning and trailing 10-0, Storks scored what would be its lone run in the bottom of the second.
Jurian Hansen led off with a single and he stole second base with one out.
The stolen base led to an exchange of words between second baseman Dwayne Kemp and Hansen.
Both benches emptied, but no players entered the field, as the altercation was ended quickly by the umpiring crew and order was restored.
Moments later, the bases got loaded when Markwell walked Rubinet Koko and Jason Netten.
Hansen then scored on a force play-grounder by Joel Hernandez, which would end in a double play.
Netten was forced out, while Hansen scored and Koko advanced to third base.
However, Koko overran third base, got into a rundown and was also eliminated to end the inning.
In the top of the third inning, Gianison Boekhoudt singled for Neptunus with one out, but two flyouts followed.
In the fourth, Gregory Muller singled with one out and Stijn van der Meer did the same with two outs.
Neptunus left runners behind on first and third base when a flyout ended the at bat.
Misja Harcksen took over the Neptunus-pitching in the third inning.
With one out, he saw Luuk Visser reach on an error, but he stranded on first base.
Harcksen retired the side in the fourth inning while it also started to rain.
In the top of the fifth inning, the highlight of the game was recorded.
Nick Winkel walked Dwayne Kemp and Gianison Boekhoudt to start the inning.
But hereafter, a grounder by Benjamin Dille was turned into a triple play by the Storks-defense.
On the grounder, Kemp was forced out at third base by third baseman Jurian Hansen.
Boekhoudt was the next runner to be eliminated at second base on the throw from Hansen to second baseman Jason Netten.
The ball then ended up in time in the glove of first baseman Joost van den Bergh to complete the triple play which went 5-54-43.
The triple play was the first in the highest league since May 1, 2016 when HCAW turned one also against Neptunus.
Back then, it also was Benjamin Dille, whose grounder created the same around-the-horn 5-54-43 triple play.
In that triple play, Kemp also was one of the runners that was eliminated.
In the bottom of the fifth, Aaron de Groot pitched for Neptunus.
The righthander retired the side (two strikeouts).
Hereafter, the game was halted by rain and moments later, it was stopped defitively.
As five complete innings were played, the game was valid.
