BB Americas Qualifier: Final game Opening Round rains out again

PORT ST. LUCIE / WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (USA) -
The final game of the Opening Round of the WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier had to be cancelled again on Thursday (June 3).
Initially, Thursday was a day off, but the teams of the USA and Puerto Rico took the field in Port St. Lucie.
On Wednesday-evening, their game was cancelled due to rain and it was re-scheduled for today.
The Opening Round ended on Wednesday, the two best teams of the two Pools advanced to the Super Round, which begins on Friday.
On Thursday, the game between the USA and Puerto Rico was halted due to heavy rain after four innings with a 6-1 lead for the Americans.
Puerto Rico had opened the score in the third inning on a single by Ivan De Jesus, Jr..
In the bottom of the third, the USA answered with two runs on back-to-back RBI-doubles by Tim Federowicz and Nick Allen.
In the bottom of the fourth, the USA added four runs to take a 6-1 lead.
The team got the bases loaded when Eddy Alvarez singled, Triston Casas walked and Federowicz reached on fielder's choice/sacrifice bunt.
Hereafter, Nick Allen hit a grand slam homerun.
Shortly thereafter, it started to rain, which led to the cancellation before the fifth inning could begin.
