Starting Pitchers coming series
Nederlands

AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - On Thursday-evening (September 23), the postseason in the Dutch Major League continues after a 2-week interruption for the European Championship that was won in Italy by the Netherlands last Sunday. On Saturday, the remaining best-of-five Play-Off between L&D Amsterdam Pirates and HCAW will continue.

There were some rumors in the past few days that another interruption would follow, as five of the six teams that play in the coming days are missing players. They are in Mexico where the participate with the Netherlands Under-23 Team in the WBSC Under-23 World Cup.

Amsterdam Pirates has to do without pitchers Gio de Graauw and Naut Kragt and infielder Delano Selassa, HCAW misses pitcher Jasper Elfrink and outfielders Julian Rip and Jeandro Tromp.

Silicon Storks also will miss three players in the coming two series, pitcher Jayden Gonesh, catcher Yurdion Martie and first baseman Sheadion Jamanika.

DSS/Kinheim and Hoofddorp Pioniers both will miss one player, respectively infielder Tommy van de Sanden and pitcher Scott Prins.

Van de Sanden, Prins and Kragt probably would have been absent anyway, as they also are studying on an American college.

But is has been confirmed that the upcoming games will be played as scheduled. The only change that has been made is that the best-of-seven Holland Series will not start on Saturday, October 2, but on Sunday, October 3.

HCAW leads the best-of-five against reigning champion Amsterdam Pirates 2-1. Pirates won the opener, but HCAW then won the next two games. When HCAW wins on Saturday at home in Bussum, Pirates will be eliminated, as well as dethroned. When Pirates wins, the decisive fifth game will be played on Sunday in Amsterdam. In the other Play-Off, Curaçao Neptunus swept Twins Oosterhout in three games to become the first team to clinch the Holland Series.

The bottom-four teams will play a 9-game series, meeting each other three times. In the opening-series two weeks ago, DSS/Kinheim swept Quick Amersfoort, while Hoofddorp Pioniers won two of its three games against Storks. The team that finishes in last place will play a best-of-three Promotion/Relegation Series against the champion of the First Division. After last weekend, RCH-Pinguïns leads the First Division with a 14-2 record, followed by Euro Stars, which is 13-3.

Beneath are the announced starting pitchers for the upcoming series in the big league. As always, these assignments can change on game-days. The second record in parentheses is the regular season-record.
