AMERSFOORT (Neth.) -
Marlon Frolijk has stepped down as Head Coach of Quick Amersfoort.
After completion of the season, rumors circulated, but it was never confirmed whether or not Frolijk would be back next season, altough the veteran coach himself more or less already had stated that he would step down.
But it has now been confirmed, as it was reported last week in the Amersfoort-edition of the Algemeen Daglad-newspaper.

Marlon Frolijk was in his first season with the Amersfoort-team.
In 2021, he was the Head Coach of RCH-Pinguïns, which then finished in second place in the First Division.
But as it was the highest qualified standard-team, RCH-Pinguïns promoted to the big league and made its comeback in the highest league this season.
After the 2021 season, Frolijk stepped down and accepted a position to coach the baseball-team of Thamen at a lower level.
He was then contacted by Quick Amersfoort after René de Vries had stepped down.
As Thamen played its games on weekdays, Frolijk also decided to coach the team of Quick.
Led by Frolijk, Quick Amersfoort finished in eighth place in the first half of the regular season.
Next, the team finished in fourth place of the Bottom-5 Pool and was eliminated for the Wild Card Play-Offs.
Thereafter, Quick played in the Major League/First Division Pilot-Pool.
In this is new Pool, the team was 10-4 with one tie and finished in first place.
In the article in the regional edition of the Algemeen Dagblad on November 5, written by Marcel Koch, Frolijk explains his decison and is quoted as follows:
,,I couldn't deliver what I had in mind.
My intention was to build a solid team that Quick would enjoy for years to come.
Moreover, the objective was to play for fourth place behind top teams such as Neptunus, Amsterdam and HCAW.
But nothing came of the beautiful plans.''
,,I was contracted after the selection had already been put together by Quick.
But some players regularly did not show up for training sessions or did not want to be coached during the games.
I should have been stricter, I've been too nice.''
,,It has also become clear to me that coaching a big leaguer requires full commitment.
Due to a lack of time, I was not always able to achieve that, which is also one of the reasons for my departure.
I am sorry that I was not able to bring what I had in mind: to give Quick new impetus.''
