Pilot-Pool: One game cancelled, other stopped due to rain
Nederlands
HEEMSTEDE / VLEUTEN (Neth.) -
On Thursday-evening (September 15), the final three 3-game series in the Major League/First Division Pilot-Pool were scheduled to go underway.
But due to weather-conditions, only one game could be played.
One game was cancelled before game-time, another one was halted after one inning.
Both games will be made up coming Tuesday-evening (September 20).
In Heemstede, the game between RCH Memorie Sieraden and Silicon Storks was some twenty minutes before getting underway when a heavy rain-shower blanketed the field.
As a result, the field quickly became unplayable and it was clear that playing had become impossible.
With that, the game was cancelled.
In Vleuten, the game between UVV and Quick Amersfoort went underway under a dark and overcast sky with rain in the neighorhood.
After one inning, with a scoreless tie, the rain indeed came and the field became unplayable.
With that, the game was halted after one complete inning.
In Oosterhout, the game between the second team of Twins Oosterhout and Sparks Haarlem also went underway.
Despite some drizzling rain now and then, a complete game could be played.
However, it ended after seven complete innings, due to the 10:30 PM curfew-rule.
Sparks won the game with an 11-6 score.
