(Story by Marco Stoovelaar) Pilot-Pool: All three games rain out; Busy schedule ahead Nederlands HEEMSTEDE / OOSTERHOUT / VLEUTEN (Neth.) - As predicted, more rain came on Sunday (September 18). In fact, it rained almost the entire morning and afternoon. It even was the coldest September 18 in the Netherlands since first measures were recorded more than hundred years ago. Today's highest temperature in De Bilt, which where the measures are taken, was 13,3 degrees Celsius (55,9 Fahrenheit). The previous low was 13,5 C (56,3 F), which was recorded in 1962. As a result of the rainy weather conditions, many games were cancelled today, including all three games in the Major League/First Division Pilot-Pool. At Heemstede, RCH Memorie Sieraden was to host Silicon Storks. These teams played only one of their three scheduled games. In Oosterhout, the second team of Twins Oosterhout was to be visited by Sparks Haarlem. These teams also played only one game. And in Vleuten, UVV was to be the home-team against Quick Amersfoort. With that, all three games of this series were cancelled. The first two games were both halted in the first inning. The games in Heemstede and Oosterhout are re-scheduled for coming Thursday-evening (September 22), the game in Vleuten will be made up coming Saturday (September 24). As two games were cancelled or halted on both Thursday and Saturday, a total of seven games was cancelled in this Pool. Today (Sunday) was to be the final day of the season for the six teams that play in this new Pool. But now, their season will be extended with some more days, with the final game scheduled for coming Saturday. It will be a busy schedule with three games on both Tuesday- and Thursday-evening and one on Saturday. The make-up schedule looks as follows: Tuesday, 7:30 PM: UVV vs. Quick Amersfoort at Vleuten; RCH Memorie Sieraden vs. Silicon Storks at Heemstede; Sparks Haarlem vs. Twins Oosterhout-2 at Haarlem (Pim Mulier Stadion, site DSS/Kinheim). Thursday, 7:30 PM: Quick Amersfoort vs. UVV at Amersfoort; RCH Memorie Sieraden vs. Silicon Storks at Heemstede; Twins Oosterhout-2 vs. Sparks Haarlem at Oosterhout. Saturday, 2:00 PM: UVV vs. Quick Amersfoort at Vleuten. Better (at least dryer) weather conditions are expected from Tuesday on. (September 18)
