In their first season in Nicaragua last winter, Bernadina and Tromp captured the Championship-title of the LBPN with Leones de León. Curaçao-born Roger Bernadina batted .299 (60-for-201) with two homeruns, scored 32 runs and batted in 27. Aruban-born Jiandido Tromp finished with a .278 batting average (64-for-230) with eight homeruns. He scored 40 runs and batted in 36.

This year, Bernadina played in the Dutch big league in his second season for Curaçao Neptunus. Tromp also played for the Rotterdam-based club and made his debut in the highest Dutch league. Bernadina batted .364 (51-for-140) in the regular season, scored 34 runs and batted in 30. Tromp batted .259 (36-for-139), scored 32 runs and batted in 26. Both didn't homer for Neptunus, which was swept in the best-of-seven Holland Series by HCAW. In these four games, Bernadina batted .267 with one RBI, while Tromp batted only .133 with no runs batted in. Both played for the Netherlands National Team during this years Baseball Week Haarlem in Haarlem (Netherlands). Next year, Bernadina will be back with Neptunus, but Tromp has left the team. At the moment, it is unknown where he will play in 2023.

On Tuesday, Leones de León suffered a big 14-2 loss in its opening game against Gigantes de Rivas in a home-game at Estadio Héroes y Mártires de Septiembre. In the 7-inning game, Tromp was the lead-off hitter and leftfielder for Leones and was 1-for-3. Bernadina batted third, was the centerfielder and also was 1-for-3. Both accounted for the two Leones-runs, as they batted in these runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Gigantes leading 12-0, Leones got its first two batters on base in the sixth (hit by pitch, single). Tromp then followed with a runscoring single. With one out, Bernadina singled in the next runner. Gigantes answered with two more runs in the seventh and ended the game via the mercy-rule.

On Wednesday, Leones again was left empty-handed, losing 5-4 against Indios del Bóer at Estadio Nacional Dennis Martínez in capital Managua. Leones trailed 2-0, then came alongside in the third inning. But the home-team re-took the lead by scoring twice in the fourth. From this moment on, Leones kept on looking to a deficit. The team scored a run in the sixth, but Indios added an insurance run in the seventh. Leones managed to score another run in the top of the ninth. Again, both Tromp and Bernadina were productive for their team. Tromp was 2-for-5 and scored once, Bernadina was 3-for-5, scored once and batted in two runs, but also struckout twice.

Trailing 2-0, it was Bernadina who accounted for the tie score in the top of the third inning. Jimmy Gonzalez led off with a single and Emmanuel Meza walked. With one out, Tromp delivered a single, but Gonzalez was eliminated at the plate when he tried to score. The play at the plate was reviewed, but the out-call was confirmed. With runners on second and third base and now two outs, next batter Benjamin Alegria walked. Bernadina then followed with a 2-run single.

In the sixth inning and Indios leading 4-2, Bernadina led off with a single, then Leones got the bases loaded (single, hit by pitch). However, the next two batters struckout, then Bernadina scored on a walk after a pitching change. But three runners were left behind, as the at bat ended with another strikeout. In the seventh, it was Tromp who led off with a single. He moved into scoring position via a sacrifice bunt, but this time, Bernadina struckout and Tromp was left behind on second base. With one out in the ninth, Bernadina delivered his third single, which brought a runner to third base. He then scored when Bernadina was force out, but Leones was unable to turn the game around.
