Hoofddorp Pioniers rallied for ten runs in the second inning and led 11-2 after that at bat, but it was DSS/Kinheim that opened the score in the top of the first inning.
And it also was the Haarlem-team that prevented a mercy-rule loss by Pioniers not allowing to take a 10-run difference and coming back from the seventh inning on.
DSS/Kinheim scored twice in the top of the first inning off of Pioniers-starter Yassir Lachkar.
The righthander gave up a lead-off infield-hit to Milan Lammerts, who advanced to third base when a grounder by next batter Jason Jakobus ended in an error.
After the latter also had moved into scoring position on a grounder by Koen Halderman, both runners scored when next batter Jochem Koedijk delivered a single.
Pioniers immediately got one run back in its first at bat off of starter Nick Boxelaar.
The righthander hit lead-off hitter Raul Jacobs with a pitch, then gave up a single to Duco Nuijten.
After a double-steal and with one out, Jacobs scored on a sacrifice fly by Denzel Brooks.
DSS/Kinheim got a chance to do some more scoring in the top of the second inning, as it got its first two batters on base.
Donny Kuijper led off with a walk, then reached second base safely in an attempt to eliminate him on a sacrifice bunt by Seb Visser.
With two outs, the runners advanced on a wild pitch then were left behind.
In the bottom of the second inning, Pioniers not only erased the 2-1 deficit, it took a commanding lead with a 10-run rally off of two pitchers.
Seven of the runs were scored with one out.
In the long at bat, Pioniers got sixteen batters, who produced nine basehits and scored ten earned runs.

Nick Boxelaar began the at bat with a strikeout, but the next nine batters all reached base safely.
First, Pioniers got the bases loaded via Jorrit Penseel (single), Bodhi de Vreede (infield-hit) and Pim Vijfvinkel (walk).
The home-team took a 3-2 lead when Raul Jacobs hit a bad-hop line drive single through the left side of the infield, which brought in Penseel and De Vreede.
Moments later, Vijfvinkel scored the next run on a double by Duco Nuijten, which was very close down the leftfield-line.
There were some reactions of Haarlem-players thinking the ball went foul, but it probably crossed the base (in flight), before it turned into foul territory, as the fair-signal was flashed immediately by Home Plate Umpire Aad Otsen.
Next, Pioniers got the bases loaded again when Oliver van der Wijst Severino walked.
Another (runscoring) walk for Denzel Brooks followed.
When next batters Mark Smit (one-run) and Michael Dumitrescu (two-run) contributed with runscoring singles, Pioniers increased the lead to 8-1 and that led to a pitching change.
Rick Timmermans took over and got a grounder from Jorrit Penseel, but that also brought in Smit.
The scoring wasn't over yet, as Bodhi de Vreede followed with his second single in the inning, which scored Dumitrescu.
After Pim Vijfvinkel received his second walk in the at bat, it was Raul Jacobs who also connected for his second basehit.
After having batted in two runs with his first single, he now delivered an one-run single.
That brought in the tenth run in the inning and increased the lead to 11-2.
Pioniers got the bases loaded again when Duco Nuijten singled, which also was hit second basehit in this inning.
But with three runners on base, Oliver van der Wijst flied out.
That ended a long at bat that lasted 38 minutes!
And so, it appeared that Pioniers was en route to a mercy-rule run-difference, but that didn't come.
Rick Timmermans did fine on the mound for DSS/Kinheim from the third inning on, completed the game and allowed only one more run.
DSS/Kinheim scored again in the top of the third.
With two outs, Sem Kuijper doubled, moved on a single by Daisuke Fukuda and scored on a single by his brother Donny Kuijper.
The other two runners were left behind.
Rick Timmermans got the bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning.
With one out, Mark Smit walked and Michael Dumitrescu singled.
With two outs, Bodhi de Vreede was hit by a pitch, but a force play ended the at bat.
In the fourth, fifth and sixth inning, both teams remained scoreless.
DSS/Kinheim got on base only twice in these at bats.
Both times, it was Nick Hofer.
He led off the fourth with a single and in the sixth, he added a 2-run single.
Both times, he stranded on first base.
Pioniers got five baserunners in the three middle innings, but only one of them got into scoring position.
With an 11-3 lead (two runs away from a mercy-rule win), Pioniers went to the bullpen in the top of the seventh.
Nick Winkel took over from Yassir Lachkar, but he saw DSS/Kinheim score three runs.
Jason Jakobus led off with an infield-hit and with one out, Jochem Koedijk was hit by a pitch.
The two scored when Sem Kuijper homered, which made it an 11-6 score.
When Winkel walked Daisuke Fukuda and Donny Kuijper, he was relieved by Lucca van der Schouw.
The rookie struckout the next two batters to end the at bat.
Pioniers also scored again in its seventh at bat, also via a homerun.
First, Denzel Brooks was hit by a pitch by Rick Timmermans, who then struckout next batter Reangelo Willems.
With Michael Dumitrescu in the batter's box, Timmermans turned to first base and got Brooks in a pick-off rundown, which ended in a caught stealing.
But with two outs, he gave up a homerun to Dumitrescu that made it a 12-6 score.
After DSS/Kinheim was retired in order in the eighth, the team added two more runs in the ninth.
They had a chance to do some more scoring, as the bases were loaded with only one out after the team already had scored twice.
Lucca van der Schouw got the bases loaded when he gave up a lead-off single to Jochem Koedijk, then walked Sem Kuijper and Daisuke Fukuda, which was followed by a runcoring single by Donny Kuijper.
Van der Schouw then struckout Seb Visser, but walked next batter Nick Hofer, which gave DSS/Kinheim a run.
But that was to be it, as a flyout and groundout then ended the game.
