On Saturday, Neptunus won the second game with a small 4-2 score. By winning the Play-Off, Neptunus became the first team to advance to the all-deciding best-of-seven Holland Series.

In the Holland Series, Neptunus will face either reigning champion L&D Amsterdam Pirates or HCAW, who will complete their Play-Off coming weekend. In this Play-Off, HCAW leads 2-1. The Bussum-team opened with a 5-0 win on Thursday in eleven innings. Amsterdam Pirates then recorded a 4-0 shutout two days later. Today, HCAW turned an early 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 win in ten innings. The series continues on Saturday in Bussum. If needed, a fifth game will follow on Sunday in Amsterdam.

Hoofddorp Pioniers completed a 3-game sweep in its best-of-five 5th-6th Place Play-Off against DSS/Kinheim on Sunday (August 21). After winning 9-4 and 12-8, Pioniers today won with a comfortable 14-3 score in seven innings to finish in fifth place in the Dutch big league.

UVV, which was outhit 9-7, took an early lead by scoring twice in the first and third inning. The team led 5-1 halfway the sixth inning. But RCH-Pinguïns came back and after the seventh inning, UVV's lead was only 7-6. The team hold onto the minimal lead and added two insurance runs in the ninth at bat.

In the top of the first inning, UVV scored twice on the long ball off of starter Finn Kragt. With one out, Ryan Wheat reached on an infield-hit and next batter Raoell Korstam followed with a homerun. Kortstam played in the Dutch big league for Amsterdam Pirates and HCAW.

Kragt retired the side in the second inning, but then saw the home-team score two more runs in the third without giving up a basehit. Daan Jansen led off with a walk, moved on a grounder, then another walk followed for Ryan Wheat. Kragt got the bases loaded when he hit next batter Raoell Kortstam with a pitch. Shortly thereafter, Jansen was able to score in what was scored as a fielder's choice-situation, while the other two runners stayed at first and second base. They then advanced when Karl Hoschke flied out. With two outs, Wheat scored when an error was made on a grounder by Luke Oliphant.

Wheat and Oliphant are two of the three foreign players on the UVV-roster. Third baseman Wheat and outfielder Oliphant come from the USA. The third foreign player is Australian outfielder Karl Hoschke.

RCH-Pinguïns faced former big league and Netherlands Team-pitcher Jurjen van Zijl. The veteran righthander got a runner in scoring position in the first inning when he gave up a 2-out double to Tilsaimy Melfor, but he stranded on second base. After having retired the side in the second, Van Zijl gave up a run in the third at bat. With one out, he hit Daan Groenewoud with a pitch, who would steal second base. With two outs, he scored on another double by Melfor, who again would be left behind on second base.

UVV added another run in the top of the fifth inning. Raoell Kortstam led off with a walk, moved on a single by Karl Hoschke, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Luke Oliphant.

RCH-Pinguïns was retired in order in the fourth and fifth inning by Jurjen van Zijl, then added its second run in the bottom of the sixth. Tilsaimy Melfor led off with a single and went on to score on a sacrifice fly by Yurdion Martie.

In the top of the seventh, UVV took some more distance by scoring two unearned runs off of new pitcher Lars Werkman. With one out, Raoell Kortstam singled, then a hit by Karl Hoschke was missed in the outfield. Both scored when Luke Oliphant followed with a double. That lifted the lead to 7-2.

But in the bottom of the seventh, RCH-Pinguïns rallied for four runs with two outs when Jurjen van Zijl ran into problems. The righthander got two quick outs, then gave up a single to Paris Aguilera Zayas and Daan Groenewoud. Both scored when next batter Leandro Anasagasti also singled. Hereafter, RCH got the bases loaded when Tilsaimy Melfor singled, which was hit fourth basehit in the game, and Yurdion Martie walked. With three runners on base and UVV now leading 7-4, a pitching change followed. Sean Wout took over from Van Zijl, but he was greeted with a 2-run single by Sebastiaan van der Horst. That narrowed the lead to only 7-6. Wout avoided giving up another run, as a flyout ended the at bat.

After a scoreless eighth inning, UVV added two insurance runs (both unearned) in the top of the ninth. With one out, Raoell Kortstam reached on an error. With that, he reached base for the fifth time in this game (single, homerun, walk, hit batter, error). Karl Hoschke followed with a double. With first base open, Luke Oliphant was walked intentionally to set up a force play. Lucas Bekker indeed followed with a force play (and possible double play) grounder to short. Oliphant was forced out, but Kortstam scored. When the attempt to complete the double play at first base ended in an error, Hoschke also scored to put UVV ahead, 9-6.

In the bottom of the ninth, RCH got two more baserunners, but was unable to do some scoring. With one out, Sean Wout hit Tilsaimy Melfor with a pitch. He also reached base five times and was 4-for-4. Wout then walked Yurdion Martie, but then struckout the next batter. A flyout ended the game.
