Nederlands
HAARLEM (Neth.) -
Quick Amersfoort and Twins Oosterhout both came into action twice on Day 1 of the third edition of the Wim Oosterhof Tournament on Saturday (March 26).
Organizing club DSS/Kinheim played once, as did the second team of Amsterdam Pirates.
In 2020 and 2021, the tournament was cancelled due to the measures against the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Host DSS/Kinheim won the last edition of the tournament in 2019.
The annual tournament is named after club-icon Wim Oosterhof, who passed away last year.
Quick Amersfoort won both games it played.
The team first outscored Twins Oosterhout 6-4, then won 7-5 against Amsterdam Pirates-2, which completed the first day.
DSS/Kinheim opened the tournament by playing in the first game against Twins Oosterhout and lost 5-2.
On Sunday, DSS/Kinheim will come into action twice.
The team then opens against Amsterdam Pirates-2 (10 AM) and later faces Quick Amersfoort (4 PM).
In between, Twins Oosterhout meets the Pirates-team (1 PM).

DSS/Kinheim-starter Robi Rizvić retired the first eight batters he faced, before Jerzy van Gool reached on an error with two outs in the top of the third.
He stranded on first base, as a grounder ended the at bat.
In the fourth inning, trailing 1-0, Twins got its first runner in scoring position.

Game 2 - Twins Oosterhout vs. Quick Amersfoort
In the second game today, Twins Oosterhout had the lead twice, but Quick Amersfoort answered both times with a 3-run rally to win 6-4.
Twins came close to the opening-run in the first at bat off of Quick-starter Stijn Bruins Slot.
With one out, Jarreau Martina hit a triple, but he was left behind.
Twins then did open the score in the next inning, scoring twice.
With one out, Luuk Visser walked and Railison Bentura singled.
Mick Vos followed with a single which enabled Visser to score and led to runners on first and third base.
When Vos was forced out on a grounder by Jerzy van Gool, Bentura scored the next run.
Quick reacted with a 3-run rally in the top of the third inning off of starter Finn Kops.
With two outs, Quick took over the lead and scored three unearned runs.
With one out, Darryl Williams (single) and Jordy Burger (walk) reached base and with two outs, the bases got loaded when Taylor Clemensia also walked.
Hereafter, Kops struckout Ibrahin Redan, which led to a tie score.
The third strike on Redan was a passed ball, so he reached first base, while all runners advanced, meaning Williams scored.
In an attempt to eliminate Redan at first base, a throwing error followed and because of that, Burger scored the tying run, while Clemensia moved to third base.
Moments later, he scored the go-ahead run on a single by Jorge Hernandez Morantes.
With Quick now leading 3-2, Ryan Huntington took over the Twins-pitching and closed with a strikeout.
Twins re-took the lead in the fourh inning off of new pitcher Jan-Willem Geerts.
Urving Kemp led off with a walk, stole second base and moved to third on a wild pitch, then scored the tying run when next batter Luuk Visser hit a grounder.
Bentura followed with a double and he scored on a 2-out double by Van Gool to put Twins ahead, 4-3.
After a scoreless fifth inning, Quick rallied again for three runs in the sixth at bat.
Redan led off with a single and Hernandez doubled and they both went on to score on an one-out single by Mees Robberse.
The latter moved to third base on an errant pick-off, then scored on a single by Emeron Lourens.
Pastor Enrique Martínez Chavez then took over the pitching and was supported with a double play, but Quick now led 6-4.
In the bottom of the sixth, Jasper Popken took the mound for Quick and retired the side to end the game.

Game 3 - Amsterdam Pirates-2 vs. Quick Amersfoort
In the third and final game on Day 1 of the tournament, Quick Amersfoort also won its second game, outscoring the second team of Amsterdam Pirates with a 7-5 score.
Quick Amersfoort led 5-1 halfway the second inning, but that lead wasn't that comfortable, as Pirates came back.
In the top of the first inning, Quick rallied for three runs off of Pirates-starter Marijn Oor.
Alex Madera led off with a triple and scored the first run when Jorge Hernandez Morantes followed with a single.
After next batter Taylor Clemensia had walked, Ibrahin Redan drove the ball down the rightfield-line for an RBI-double.
When that was followed by an outfield-error, Clemensia also scored, while Redan moved to third base.
That could have been a big inning, as there were still no outs.
However, the next three batters were retired in order (strikeout, two flyouts).
Pirates got one run back in its first at bat off of Quick-starter Kevin Schnorbach.
The German immediately got the bases loaded when Luca van Gorkum led off with an infield-hit and Lucas Vos and Quinny Alvares Sosa both walked.
Hereafter, Geoffrey Verhoef grounded into a double play, but Van Gorkum scored.
Quick took more distance by adding two runs in the top of the second inning.
The Amersfoort-team got its first two batters on base via Bas Wiers (walk) and Aiden Stacie (error).
The latter was forced out on a grounder by Madera, but then, the bases got loaded when Hernandez walked.
Clemensia followed with a 2-run double that lifted the lead to 5-1 and brought in new pitcher Timothy Richards.
He began with a strikeout, got the bases loaded again, but gave up no additional runs.
In the bottom of the third inning, it was Pirates that staged a rally, scoring three runs to narrow to deficit to only 5-4.
Like in the first inning, Pirates got the bases loaded quickly, thanks to Boris Hartman (single), Thibaud Pastor (walk) and Thomas Richards (hit by pitch).
With one out, Van Gorkum walked to bring in an automatic run, which also led to a pitching change.
With the bases still loaded, Johnaickel Acosta took over.
He got a force play-grounder from Vos, but that enabled Pastor to score.
With runners now on first and third base, Vos stole second base and on the throw to this base, Richards scored in what became a double steal-situation.
And that made it a 5-4 score.
Pirates got another baserunner when Alvares walked, but he was forced out to end the inning.
Quick took some more distance in the fourth inning when it scored two runs.
Madera led off with a double and Hernandez walked.
After a double steal and with one out, both scored when a grounder by Ibrahin Redan ended in an error.
Quick got some more scoring opportunities, but was unable to add more runs.
With his brother on second base, Irving Redan walked, but was forced out on a grounder by Pascal Zegwaard.
The bases then got loaded when Marvin Jakobus walked.
Next batter Bas Wiers followed with a line drive, but that was caught by second baseman Jamie Beerman, which ended the inning.
Pirates got one more run back in its fourth at bat.
Daaf van Kouwen led off with a walk and moved to third base when Van Gorkum singled.
After the latter had stolen second base and with one out, an attempt to eliminate Van Gorkum at third base on a grounder by Alvares ended in an error and so, Van Kouwen scored.
Pirates stranded runners on second and third base.
Both teams left a runner behind on third base in the fifth and final inning.
