HEEMSTEDE (Neth.) - The second team of Twins Oosterhout also won its second game of the 3-game series against RCH Memorie Sieraden. On Saturday (August 27), the team won 10-6 to win its third game in the Major League/First Division Pilot-Pool. On Thursday-evening, Twins opened the series with a 6-4 victory.

Today, two other games were also played in this Pool.

In a slowpaced game, Twins Oosterhout-2 took an early lead, but also faced a 3-2 deficit after the first inning. From the second inning, the game turned the way of the Oosterhout-team. Twins re-took the lead and took more distance. Twins hold onto it in the remainder of the game, thanks to good pitching by Sydney Hoeverts, who took over the pitching in the second inning.

In the top of the first inning, Twins scored twice off of starter Sven van de Sanden. With one out, Gijs van Zalingen doubled, then Twins got the bases loaded when Thijmen Peters walked and Jerzy van Gool singled. Veteran player Berend Ruben followed with a 2-run single to give his team an early lead. Ruben played in the Dutch big league for The Hawks, UVV, HCAW and Twins Oosterhout.

Twins-starter Jan van de Hurk got the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning, but appeared to escape unharmed. But an error then led to three unearned runs. The righthander gave up a lead-off single to Daan Groenewoud, then walked Thomas Kwakernaak. When next batter Jesse Aussems flied out, it led to a double play, as Groenewoud was eliminated at third base when he tried to advance. With two outs, Van de Hurk got the bases loaded when Tilsaimy Melfor singled and Yurdion Martie walked. A grounder by Leandro Anasagasti appeared to become the third out, but an error was made and two runners scored to tie the score. The bases then got loaded again when Paris Aguilera Zayas walked. Moments later, the home-team took a 3-2 lead when Martie scored on a passed ball. The troubles continued as another walk for Teun van der Meer re-loaded the bases. This time, the three runners were left behind, as a bunt by Koen Werkman ended in the third out.

Twins immediately re-took the lead by scoring twice in the top of the second inning. With one out and Esra van den Berg (fielder's choice) on first base, Marnix Ruben singled. The two advanced on a grounder by Gijs van Zalingen, then both scored on a single by Thijmen Peters.

Twins added another run in the fourth inning. Esra van den Berg led off with a single, advanced to third base when an error was made on a sacrifice bunt by Marnix Ruben and scored on a single by Gijs van Zalingen.

In the bottom of the second inning, Sydney Hoeverts became the new pitcher for Twins and would complete the game. Hoeverts gave up eight basehits and three runs, but never encountered big problems. He was supported with a double play in the third inning and retired the side (two strikeouts) in the fifth. With Twins leading 5-3, he gave up a run in the bottom of the fifth. Ties van der Beeke led off with a single, moved into scoring position on a 2-out single by Yurdion Martie, then scored on a following single by Leandro Anasagasti. But two runners were left behind.

After Twins was retired in order in the fifth inning by new pitcher Joel Martis, the team got the bases loaded in the sixth. With two outs, Marnix Ruben and Gijs van Zalingen both singled and Thijmen Peters walked, but a flyout ended the at bat. But from the seventh inning on, Twins added five more runs.

In the top of the seventh, Berend Ruben and Matthew Joossens opened with back-to-back doubles, resulting in a run. Joossens later scored on a wild pitch to lift the lead to 7-4.

Twins added two more runs in the eighth inning off of Lars Werkman, RCH's third pitcher in this game. With one out, he gave up a double to Thijmen Peters, who then scored when an error was made on a following grounder by Jerzy van Gool. The latter scored the next run on a 2-out single by Matthew Joossens.

Twins scored its tenth run in the top of the ninth. With one out, Esra van den Berg walked, stole second base and scored on a double by Marnix Ruben.

After giving up RCH's fourth run in the fifth inning, Sydney Hoeverts got only two baserunners in the next three innings. But only in the eighth, the runner came close to scoring. Leandro Anasagasti led off with a walk, advanced on a grounder and moved to third base on a wild pitch, but was left behind.

With Twins leading 10-4, RCH-Pinguïns was able to do something back in the bottom of the ninth by scoring two runs. Daan Groenewoud led off with a double and scored on an one-out double by Geoffrey Verhoef. The latter then scored on a following single by Tilsaimy Melfor, but the game ended when next batter Yurdion Martie grounded into a double play.
