Starting Pitchers coming series
Nederlands
AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
The upcoming 3-game series is the second of two consecutive series that has a different scheduling, as they will begin on Wednesday-evening, instead of Thursday-evening.
The reason for this is that only one game is scheduled in the weekend instead of two.
In the previous series, no games were scheduled in the highest league on Saturday, April 27, which was King's Day.
On this day, the birthday of His Royal Highness King Willem-Alexander was celebrated.
In the upcoming weekend, no games are scheduled on Sunday, May 5, which is National Liberation Day, which marked the end of World War 2 in the Netherlands.
Coming Saturday, May 4 is National Memorial Day.
On this day, all four scheduled games in the Dutch big league will begin one hour earlier (1 PM).
Each year on May 4, at 8 PM, two minutes of silence are observed in remembrance of the victims of World War 2.
And so, the upcoming new 3-game series opens tonight (Wednesday, May 1) to be followed by games on Thursday-evening and coming Saturday-afternoon.
The following 3-game series then will open again on a Thursday to be followed by two games in the weekend.
However, instead of playing the openers in the evening, the games on May 9 (which is Ascension Day) will be played in the afternoon.
On Tuesday-evening (April 30), RCH-Pinguïns and DSS/Kinheim played a make-up game in Heemstede.
RCH-Pinguïns won with a 9-2 score to move into fifth place.
There are two more make-up games left, which are both scheduled for coming Tuesday-evening (May 7).
UVV then will play at home against DSS/Kinheim in Vleuten, while Worldwide Pharma Logistics Hoofddorp Pioniers will host Oosterhout Twins.
Due to playing some make-up games, as well as having a busy schedule in the past week and a half, the rotation of RCH-Pinguïns has not been decided yet for the upcoming series against Oosterhout Twins.

Tonight, a familiar pitcher will make another comeback in the highest league, as veteran righthander Eddie Aucoin will be the starter for Worldwide Pharma Logistics Hoofddorp Pioniers in the opener against Quick Amersfoort.
Last season, Aucoin (who turned 48 in October) started in three games for Pioniers and struckout 17 batters in 19 2/3 inning.
Who the starters will be in Game 2 and 3 will be has not yet been decided.
In the upcoming months, reigning champion Amsterdam Pirates and HCAW will have to do without one of their players.
Pirates-righthander Scott Prins, who is the lone 3-game winner so far this season, and HCAW's second baseman Delano Selassa will not be with their team, as both have left for Canada, where they will begin their professional season next week.
Both will play for a Canadian-based team in the Frontier League, which is an Independent League with teams in both Canada and the USA and also is a Professional Partner League of Major League Baseball.
Prins will play for Ottawa Titans for whom he signed on November 29, Selassa for Capitales de Québec, where he signed on October 27.
The season in the Frontier League opens on May 9.
At Ottawa, Prins will be a teammate of Aruban catcher Sicnarf Loopstok with whom he also played together at Amsterdam Pirates.
Another teammate will be Curaçaon lefthanded pitcher Arlison Rodriguez.
Selassa also will have a familiar teammate at Québec, as Juremi Profar was added to the roster on April 23.
The Curaçaon infielder was on the roster of Lake Erie Crushers, but he was sent to Québec to complete an earlier trade.
Another European player on the Québec-roster is righthanded pitcher Thibault Mercadier from France.
In the upcoming series, DSS/Kinheim has no games scheduled.
Beneath are the announced starting pitchers for the fourth 3-game series of the 2024 season that opens on Wednesday-evening, May 1.
As always, these pitching assignments can change on game-days.
