Kinheim published the following on its website on Wednesday:
,,Baseball and softball club Kinheim from Haarlem is proud to announce the appointment of Milan Lammerts as the new head coach of the first baseball team.
Milan, a true club man and former player of Kinheim, returns to the club where he was active for many years, this time as leader of the big league team.
Milan Lammerts is looking forward to working together with the team and the coaching staff on a successful future in the coming period.
''I am incredibly proud to be back at Kinheim, the club where I experienced so many great moments as a player.
Now as head coach, I get the chance to give something back.
We are busy putting together a strong coaching staff and I look forward to building a successful season together with them and the players.''
Kinheim wishes Milan much success in his new role and is confident that he, with his experience and passion for the club, will take the team to new heights.''
Milan Lammerts made his debut in the Dutch big league playing for Hoofddorp Pioniers in 2015.
In that season, the infielder appeared in ten games and batted .091 (1-for-11) with two runs batted in, a walk and one stolen base.
Lammerts later transfered to Onze Gezellen and played for that Haarlem-based team in the second highest league for some seasons.
After the 2020 season, Lammerts transfered with five teammates from Onze Gezellen to DSS/Kinheim, which had been created after DSS and Kinheim had joined forces following the 2019 season.
The other OG-players who joined Lammerts in the transfer to DSS/Kinheim were pitchers Nick Boxelaar, Milan van der Breggen and Tom Stuiffbergen and infielders Seb Visser and Mick van Vliet.
And so, Lammerts played his next games in the highest in 2021 when he played for DSS/Kinheim, which then was led by Head Coach Michael Crouwel.
He then played in 30 games and batted .136 (11-for-81), scored thirteen runs and batted in four.
DSS/Kinheim finished in fifth place.
In the 2022 season, Lammerts played in 15 games (including the postseason), hitting .250 (9-for-36).
Lammerts, who primarily was a short stop, but also played in the outfield, finished in fifth place with the Haarlem-team in the first half.
By finishing in second place in the second half, DSS/Kinheim advanced to the Wild Card Qualifier, but then lost against Hoofddorp Pioniers.
In the following Wild Card Bottom Series, DSS/Kinheim was eliminated by HCAW.
Lammerts returned to Onze Gezellen after the 2022 season.
In 2023 and this year, Milan Lammerts was one of the two coaches of the Under-17 team of Rabbits (Baseball Academy Kennemerland), together with Dave Hazel.
Lammerts had been associated with Rabbits since 2010.
First as a player, but later as instructor and coach.
Last year, Lammerts led the Under-17 team to the championship in the Instructional League.
A few weeks ago, Lammerts again played with the Rabbits Under-17 team in the Final, but this time was left empty-handed, as opponent Scimitars won 8-0.
Etienne Meijer was named as new Head Coach of DSS/Kinheim in October 2022, as the successor of Michael Crouwel.
In his first season at the helm (2023), Meijer finished in sixth place in the first half with the team.
In the second half, DSS/Kinheim finished in second place in the Bottom-5 Pool and advanced to the Wild Card Bottom Series.
In that best-of-three, the team was eliminated by Amsterdam Pirates, which would go on to win the title in the Holland Series.
This season, Meijer led DSS/Kinheim to fourth place to qualify for the Top-4 Pool in which the team also finished in fourth place.
In the following Wild Card Series, DSS/Kinheim won the best-of-three against Oosterhout Twins to advance to the Play-Offs, which was a first for the combination-team.
In the best-of-three Play-Offs, DSS/Kinheim again faced the future Dutch champion, Curaçao Neptunus, which eliminated the Haarlem-team.
In the two seasons with Etienne Meijer as Head Coach, DSS/Kinheim was 43-52 in the regular season with four games ending in a tie.
It was recently announced that from next season on, the big league-team will be known as Kinheim again, while the team playing in the First Division will be called DSS.
The cooperation between the two neighboring clubs will continue, but has been decided that the teams will continue playing under their respective club-name in order to keep their own identity.
