Robert Ushy also is a writer.
Between 2016 and 2022, Ushy wrote our adventure-books, one of them being a thriller.
This year, Twins finished in sixth place in the regular season.
In the Bottom-5 Pool, Twins primarily was in second place throughout this second half of the season, but by doing so, it secured a spot in the Wild Card Series, as it also did last year.
In the final round, Twins swept Quick Amersfoort to pass UVV and finish in first place in the Bottom-5 Pool.
With that, Twins met DSS/Kinheim in the best-of-three Wild Card Series.
DSS/Kinheim won the opener in thirteen innings in a game that ended with a much talked about call at first base.
Twins won Game 2 after having trailed 4-0 halway the fifth inning.
In Game 3, Twins trailed 8-1 after three innings, came alongside (9-9), but lost in 10 innings, resulting elimination for the Play-Offs.
Oosterhout Twins announced the naming of Robert Ushy in the following press release, which also was published on its website.
Oosterhout Twins is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Ushy as their new head coach for the 2025 season.
Rob brings with him a wealth of international experience at a high level and a proven track record as a coach in various leagues around the world.
The Canadian is a motivational leader who has earned wide recognition for his professionalism, resourcefulness and sportsmanship.
With over 15 years of coaching experience in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia, Rob has demonstrated his ability to help players and teams experience success.
His philosophy is that results come from growth.
,,It is great that Rob Ushy will be the head coach at Oosterhout Twins next year'', said Paul Bun, the club’s Technical Director.
,,I am impressed by the leadership he has shown in the various roles he has fulfilled in recent years, where the development of the players as individuals in the team has always been a spearhead in his functioning.
He is demonstrably successful with this approach that has led to multiple championships and development of teams he was involved with.
I have great confidence that Rob can continue to build on the foundations that have been laid in recent seasons.
And, it is great to see that the network that Oosterhout Twins has, based on the work that Jan Maarten Kops has done with the Collegiate Baseball League Europe, is proving to be very strong.
Rob Ushy was in Oosterhout several times with the CBLE in those years and then said on our beautiful terrace that he wanted to coach Twins one day.
Great that this is now becoming a reality.''
Rob's impressive career includes positions as head and assistant coach with the Winnipeg Goldeyes (American Association), Adelaide Bite/Giants (ABL), Kensington Cardinals (Australian State League) and as an instructor with Perfect Game Baseball Academy and the Japan Winter League in Okinawa.
In the announcement, Robert Ushy also reacted on his new adventure:
,,I am excited to return to Oosterhout.
I would first like to thank the Oosterhout Twins organization for the opportunity and the trust to allow myself to take the responsibility in driving the team for the 2025 baseball season.
My motivation starts with a simple foundation of helping players and with that the desire help the organization and the fans.
It’s also about competition, performance, development and leadership.
I know what the expectations are, and I certainly have some of my own.
It’ll be my job, and the strong staff’s job here to continue to build on the progress of previous seasons by taking on our next challenges.
I am eager to work with the players, coaches and management to take our next steps towards the future, while also honoring the remarkable culture that has already been set in place for us''.
