Starting Pitchers coming series
Nederlands

AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - On Thursday-evening (June 27), the next 3-game series opens in the Dutch big league, followed by games coming Saturday and Sunday.

This will be the third series in the second half of the regular season. Quick Amersfoort has no games scheduled in the upcoming series.

Last Saturday, Quick Amersfoort finally had something to celebrate this season. There have been a few games in which the team had taken the lead, but in all cases, Quick was unable to hold onto it and ended up empty-handed. And so, entering Saturday's game, Quick Amersfoort had a 27-game losing streak, one of the longest in Dutch big league-history.

The 27th loss in a row was on Thursday-evening at home in Amersfoort in the opener against Oosterhout Twins. In that game, American Wyatt Lankford dominated for Twins and came very, very close to throwing a Perfect Game. As Twins led 14-0 halfway the eighth inning, the team was three outs away from finishing the game via the mercy-rule. Lankford retired the first two batters he faced. With that, the righthander had retired 23 batters. But with two outs Lankford walked Stefan Kuipers, which ended the Perfect Game! Moments later, Kuipers was forced out, which ended the game, which still was a No-Hitter.

On Saturday, Kuipers struck again. Quick trailed 1-0 after Twins had scored in the bottom of the first inning, but then was kept scoreless in the next six innings by lefthander Jhan Rifaela. Quick came alongside in the fifth inning on a throwing error. From the beginning, the game was a pitching-duel between Rifaela and Twins-starter Misja Harcksen.

In the top of the ninth, off of Harcksen's successor Simon Gross, Taylor Clemensia led off with a walk and was moved into scoring position by (former Twin) Ben van Dulken with a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Stefan Kuipers hit the ball into deep rightfield for a runscoring double that put Quick ahead, 2-1. Aaron Isenia, who had taken over for Rifaela in the eighth and then retired the side, hold onto the minimal lead. In the ninth, the lefthander struckout the first two hitters, then a grounder ended the game. Quick had recorded its first win of the season and ended a long 27-game losing streak. With that, Quick won its first game since August 14 of last year.

On Sunday, Quick lost 13-5 to Twins. In a make-up game on Tuesday-evening, the team was outscored 16-3 by RCH-Pinguïns.

Quick's losing streak was the longest in the highest league since ADO Lakers lost 23 games in a row during the 2013 season. The record is 36, which was set by Tex Town Tigers when that team remained winless throughout the 1981 season.

Beneath are the announced probable starting pitchers for the twelfth 3-game series of the 2024 season that opens on Thursday-evening, June 27.
As always, these pitching assignments can change on game-days.

Listed between the first parentheses is the record in the second half, listed in the second pair of parentheses is the record in the first half of the season.
