Starting Pitchers Coming Series
Nederlands
AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
Coming Thursday-evening (July 17), the final 3-day series opens in the regular season of the Dutch big league.
In the previous series, league-leader Curaçao Neptunus lost the 3-game series against second-placed HCAW 2-1, but with the win in the opener, Neptunus will finish in first place.
Both teams already secured a spot in the Play-Offs, in which they will meet the winners of the best-of-three Wild Card Series, which will be played on July 24-27.
The best-of-five Play-Offs open on August 14.
Amsterdam Pirates (on June 29) and Oosterhout Twins (July 5) first clinched a spot in the Wild Card Series.
Last Saturday, Worldwide Pharma Logistics Hoofddorp Pioniers also qualified for a spot in the Wild Card Series.
Kinheim claimed the final spot last Tuesday-evening after having played on 23 minutes.
On that evening, Kinheim and UVV again resumed an earlier game.
The game was initially played on Saturday, April 12 (Opening Weekend) and then ended in a 14-13 win for UVV in 11 innings.
Kinheim played under protest from the 10th inning on, due to the non-application of the tie-break rule.
The protest was granted, after which the 10th and 11th inning were declared invalid.
The game was completed on Sunday, June 1 from the 10th inning on with an 11-11 score before the start of the regular game UVV vs. Kinheim in Vleuten.
Kinheim won 14-13 in 10 innings.
However, this time, UVV filed an objection to the administrative handling of the KNBSB regarding the scheduling of the remainder on June 1.
A decision came on June 16, after which the 10th inning played on June 1st was declared invalid and the game again got the status of suspended.
The game was finally completed last Tuesday-evening.
Kinheim won 15-13 in 10 innings and with that, the Haarlem-team became unreachable for UVV and qualified for the Wild Card Series.
With the loss, UVV was eliminated.
It took 94 days, six hours and 21 minutes to play the game, as calculated by Kinheim's Jörgen Balk.
In the upcoming series, it will be decided who will finish in third and fourth place (Twins or Pirates) and who will finish in fifth and sixth place (Pioniers or Kinheim).
In the Wild Card Series, the number three meets number six, while number four faces number five.
UVV will continue the season in the Bottom-4 Pool, which opens August 14.
UVV will be joined by RCH-Pinguïns and the losers of the Wild Card Series.
The winners of the Wild Card Series advance to the Play-Offs.
Beneath are the announced (probable) starting pitchers for the fourrteenth (and final) 3-game series of the 2025 regular season that opens on Thursday-evening, July 17.
As always, these pitching assignments can change on game-days.
